DCE....

I don't like it, I don't care of the precedent or which team is involved, it makes a mockery of announcing signings.

It's not just the way DCE went about it, it is the knock-on effect of signings of this size. Think of all the Titans- and Manly-related movements since the DCE announcement, affecting Sezer (and thus Elgey, Cornish, Williams), Nate Myles, Foran, James Roberts, etc.

I don't think he's worth the cash he's receiving. I do think he's a money hungry, narcissist. I don't really care either way for Gold Coast as they took the chance on him with an extended period for him to continue his negotiations.

Looking out for #1
Smart move.

Business decision for sure.
You're crazy if you wouldn't do the same.

It's a business not a friendship
$$$ talks.

Nobody is saying he can't sign with whoever he wants, it's the way he's done it that people have an issue with. To use your analogy, if I agreed to join a firm and then changedmy mind after they sacked the guy I was going replace my reputation in that industry would nose dive pretty quick.

Massive backflip off the high board…

Remains a Manly Sea-Eagle for LIFE....has a massive 8 man Presser on Fox Sports News...

What a Prima Dona....Embarrassing for Rugby League

Thoughts on Teddy turn last year?

As I said in a following Post Changing his mind is fine…it is within the current rules...the way he went about it calling a 8 man press conference to announce his decision 3 months after signing with the Titans saying he only decided within the last 48hrs smacks of the Prima Dona he is...

Can't recall Teddy doing the same a week after his decision to stay...

Playing devil's advocate here, what if that was Manly's decision to run out the circus to announce it?

*DISCLAIMER: I've only seen tidbits of the press conference so if he said he called it I rescind my question.

If you're not amongst the best in the industry it will Yoss.

I've seen people with poor reputations in my particular industry end up in lofty places.

Manly probably did however DCE was in the Middle and has been on every NRL panel show since….Explaining his reasons over and over again....

I stand by my opinion that he is a Prima Donna...

What was the highest paid player on eight years ago in 2007?

He may be on peanuts come 2023, if he lasts that long

Yes I agree with geo hes a prima donna, hes a cliche riddled, personalityless dullard who plays footy pretty well

Ink, you don't have to have brains and a high IQ to be a good footballer….if your good at it then they will pay...

Well DCE himself may consider himself in a lofty place. I'm not saying you can't be successful, just that you need to accept others in your industry may have an inferior view of how you conduct yourself.

Fair enough people are upset with him but any thought that Manly have made the wrong decision by signing someone who would do this is just endless amounts of laughing.

Come next week he will be winning games for them and no one will care.

What's funnier is they offered him $1mil a season which he agrees too only for the new heads of the club to decrease the offer by 300k. Now 6mths later they are paying 1.6mil a season.

On DCE good on him for being able to get that amount of money and longtime contract, wish I could get 1.6mil a year salary.

I understand, but in some cases if you're good enough your reputation doesn't mean squat. Organisations are always prepared to take the risk if it benefits them.

I reckon it would have been much more accepted by the fans if he said something like

"Manly actively pursued me after agreeing with the titans and made me a substantially increased offer guranteed for significantly longer ensuring my financial security. It was an offer too good to refuse, I apologise to the Titan and understand this will effect them negatively, but unfortunately I ahve to act in my best interests"

I reckon most fans would cop that. It would be impossible to say no the contract he had put in front of him and fans would get that.

Im a huge fan of DCE and until this event, I thought he was a terrific guy off the field. His handling of this has tarnished my view of him.

Talk that Titans will now look to sign Maloney.
In my opinion they are better off with Maloney than DCE.
He might not be as good as Cherry-Evans, but he is still a very good player and will be a hell of a lot cheaper. This opens up the door for other marquee signings too.
Plus with all the work Maloney does for the Footy Show and Channel 9 it makes him a marketable player for the club.

Maloney will be at the Sharks.

Honestly after watching his press conference today, I just see an extremely greedy, self-centred, attention seeking individual who has no care in the world for anyone else. I now understand why the majority of the squad at Manly dislike him.

Trying to say that he changed his mind because he wanted to be a "one club player" is so bloody ignorant. He would have had that opportunity regardless. He is a class player and would have been able to resign or sign for any club when ever he wanted. If DCE is searching for job security, I'll fly to the moon and back tomorrow.

It is so obvious that he played his cards right in search for more money. He even said himself that he changed his mind when this new deal was put forward by Manly. Obviously he was happy with the increased dollars and completely destroyed the Gold Coast's plans for more money whilst suggesting otherwise. Feel so sorry fort he Titans and their supporters.

Anyone suggesting that we can't criticise DCE/Manly because Teddy did it couldn't be more wrong IMO.

Teddy turned down more money to stick with his preferred option - staying with his mates in the city he resides.

DCE signed a contract as a bargaining tool to up Manly's offer and make as much money as possible whilst staying where he already was. DCE also waited a long enough period to ensure that the Titan's lost players to accommodate his big money contract and has now destroyed the club in the short to medium term. He continually gave them assurances that he wasn't going to backflip and now this. What a horrible person.

DCE has lost so much credibility over this whole saga and IMO would be a perfect fit for the Manly captaincy.

Honestly every time i see him in that press conference, it makes my blood boil and I don't even support the Titans. I can only imagine how they're feeling right now..

Money money money,
always sunny in a
rich mans world
Aha-ahaaa…........... It was always about money with him. Sacks full of if.
