DCE....

Tedesco changed his mind a couple of days later without any further increase to his contract. it would be the same as the cooling off period of 10 days they are looking to introduce.
DCE and his manager used the system and the Titans to get more money

He still played within the rules, as did Tedesco. I don't like DCE that much either, but the reality is the NRL has let the Titans down here by having a policy that could be exploited in such a way (I actually thought the whole premise of the rule was to allow the incumbent club to convince the player to stay?)

Change the rules so they cannot be. I'd have it so once an MOU or contract is signed, that's it.

Stuff the Titans.

They signed our premiership captain more than a year out from his contract end date. I'm still filthy - 10 years on and we still haven't got a replacement half who directs the team like Princey did.

Lmao when I heard about DCE today.

Spite, I know. Sorry

And they busted the cap to sign him (free house.)

What a shambles.

I understand it was all within the rules but it does leave a foul taste in Titans fans and wouldn't be surprised if some of those go and start paying there membership money to the Gold Coast Suns and support AFL.

I was over the moon when Teddy stayed but he changed his mind within a week. DCE changes his mind 3 Months later is a selfish one, yeah it might be His Career but the image he leaves for the game to defend is appalling.

The NRL will act after this no doubt.

The tragedy around this for the Titans is they made decisions based on him coming to the club.

I think I heard the NRL was going to scrap the June 30 deadline and introduce a 10 day cooling off period. Much simpler in my opinion.

i for one couldnt care less where he plays. or why he changed his mind or blah blah blah The biggest issue for me is the ramifications his contract is going to have on the salary cap going forward for all clubs… ask your self this, If the DCE that we know at his current best form is the best he will ever play, do you think he will go down as one of the players spoken about in 30- 40 years, will he be an immortal... my answer is no way in hell... So when the boom players blossom going forward year in and year out and when they are better than DCE ( in all hopes Luke brooks ) what sort of money will they be demanding. and who will afford them...not wests tigers

Mate is always going to be a massive problem for us, we give boom kids three and four year deals, paying them well over the odds based on where we expect them to be in a few years, go through all the pain and ups and downs that comes with playing young kids in the top grade before their time and than when they are top grade players in a few years their contract expires and we can not compete with the cheque book clubs. The trouble is we do not have any other choices, so we have to try and play the old loyalty card when their contracts expire and hope they buy it. Time will tell, lets face it they may not make the grade

If i got 10 mil and a contract for life, bloody oath i would stay, he's counting his money right now so i don't think he cares about our opinions lol.

Manly just made the worst decision in history, what if he loses form? They are stuck with him on a 1mil+ contract forever.

I think this is very different to what Teddy did.
Tedesco back flipped a week later, DCE did it 3 months later.

During that 3 months the Titans let Seizer go to Canberra on the assumption DCE would be replacing him. They also missed out on other signings they could have made using the money they spent on DCE. And with only 1 week till the deadline it is unlikely the Titans will have enough time to lure Seizer back. Cherry-Evans has screwed the Titans over royally.

Yeah it's not a nice thing to do, the Titans have lost out big time here and he's left them no room for options. I expected better of someone like Cherry-Evans - he always comes across as a decent sort of kid.

DCE seems like a seedy customer….he played this saga out for all that it was worth. Can see a Moltzen-esque story playing out where Manly rue their decision in the end. Not being hypocritical coz I am over the moon that Teddy stayed with us but DCE turned his decision into Home And Away. Maybe GC should have offered him ,a free house ala Prince. Find it laughable that Fox sports ask Greg Inglis for his POV on this issue.....a MRS beater and salary cap lying dog cheat.....hey let's ask him for him for his view on morality. FFS.

Just another grey area in a game full of grey areas

Yes it is part of the rules but it makes NRL look like amateur hour

You can't blame DCE , blame the NRL

He just played it out for all that it was worthand seemed to have loved the drama. Teddy decided to leave us but ddidn't turn it into a 4 month saga before changing his mind. **** the Titans, no sympathy for them after the Prince balls-up. Part of me is hoping DCE turns out to be Manly's Moltzen. NRL is fast turning into a stinkfest, used to absolutely love it with an obsessive passion but now it is a case of watch it because there is no other option sportswise.

Good for him.

He doesn't make the rules, so you can't blame him, blame the NRL. The round 13 BS is being replaced by a 10 day cooling off period next yr which will be a lot better. Too bad the rule wasn't around when our own halfback signed with the Titans.

Honestly after watching his press conference today, I just see an extremely greedy, self-centred, attention seeking individual who has no care in the world for anyone else. I now understand why the majority of the squad at Manly dislike him.

Trying to say that he changed his mind because he wanted to be a "one club player" is so bloody ignorant. He would have had that opportunity regardless. He is a class player and would have been able to resign or sign for any club when ever he wanted. If DCE is searching for job security, I'll fly to the moon and back tomorrow.

It is so obvious that he played his cards right in search for more money. He even said himself that he changed his mind when this new deal was put forward by Manly. Obviously he was happy with the increased dollars and completely destroyed the Gold Coast's plans for more money whilst suggesting otherwise. Feel so sorry fort he Titans and their supporters.

Anyone suggesting that we can't criticise DCE/Manly because Teddy did it couldn't be more wrong IMO.

Teddy turned down more money to stick with his preferred option - staying with his mates in the city he resides.

DCE signed a contract as a bargaining tool to up Manly's offer and make as much money as possible whilst staying where he already was. DCE also waited a long enough period to ensure that the Titan's lost players to accommodate his big money contract and has now destroyed the club in the short to medium term. He continually gave them assurances that he wasn't going to backflip and now this. What a horrible person.

DCE has lost so much credibility over this whole saga and IMO would be a perfect fit for the Manly captaincy.

Honestly every time i see him in that press conference, it makes my blood boil and I don't even support the Titans. I can only imagine how they're feeling right now..

Well really, only a fool would go out cracking open champagne bottles having made a marquee signing so far away from the round 13 deadline. Any player a club signs before round 13 needs to be taken with a grain of salt, especially a marquee signing like DCE.
