Dear Mr Potter, Can You Please Address Our Poor Discipline?

This team's lack of discipline, week in week out, is killing any chance they have of making the finals this season. I'm begging you, coach, please stop ignoring this glaring problem before it is too late - if it's not already too late. You can start with admonishing the human penalty, himself, Adam Blair!

what about the other oxygen thief Luani, lying on top of a tackled souths player looking at the ref waiting for him to blow a penalty. Facepalm

Something needs to be done about the amount of stupid penalties Blair gives away week in week out. He's the only player that really gets me frustrated with some of the idiotic things he does

It's insane, they are putting themselves on the back foot in _every single_ game and, unfortunately, they just do not have the talent to get themselves back on the front foot in most matches.

After such a promising start, this team is going backwards fast. Increasingly poor discipline, scraping wins over the last and second last placed teams, in recent weeks, and tonight's dismal showing, against a weakened Souths team that was there for the taking, just highlights this decline, imo.

I dont think Blair is as bad as he is made out to be… he is good for a clever penalty or two, but then seems to cop the brunt of the refs on some very borderline calls.

His first penalty tonight was for slowing down the breakaway which was a pro move to allow us to set the defensive line... the next one was for going over the top of the tackled player rather that around him, yet he was riding the players back so the only way up for him was a foot either side, otherwise a soft roll off the side leaving one marker and was a little harsh...

I thought Blair really put in tonight and I think some of the calls against him were dud calls. I think our pack was under gunned especially against Souths. It was a poor team selected for tonight and we suffered for it.

Something needs to be done about Souths paying the refs off so many harsh calls if your gonna make those kind of calls it has to go both ways and it didn't

Blair is always pushing the envelope to slow the play the ball. First call was unlucky imo.

I cut him some slack.

No doubt there were some ordinary self inflicted penalties tonight.

As there is every week. Enough is enough! It's killing us and needs to be addressed, pronto!

The penalties cost us big time tonight. Blair needs to show some confidence is our defense. We would of been ok tonight is we hadn't been forced to repeated sets against us in poor field position.

Also some silly knock downs and attempted intercepts late in penalty counts. Austin was guilty of one last night, knocking down a ball when our defenders had the play well covered.

This combined with being forced out twice early in our sets set us too big a task. And don't start me on Anasta's regulation charge down. FFS….unfortunately he is our most consistent and experienced player.

The price of inexperience.

Blair didn't have much choice last night with the amount of ball Souths had

If we hadn't slowed down the ruck Souths probably would of put 50 on us

We were missing three blokes (Farah ,Woods and Fulton) who if they play 80 minutes contribute usually between 130 and 150 tackles a game

That's a huge chunk of our defensive workload

Agreed. However there did appear to be a fair bit of pick on Adam Blair mentality from the refs last night. On two maybe three occasions the penalties seamt like they were only given cause it was Adam Blair.

When you play Potter style football, you have to be super disciplined. Its all about no risk simple football but at present we are the most undisciplined side in the comp.

Its a catch 22 thing, the more possession you give the other team the more you have to push the boundary's and that is what is happening.

We were poor in the last 2 games with discipline but overall, we're around 5th in the comp for completions. Penalties are killing us though.

You are always going to be penalised more when you are constantly defending. Also, Souths players were constantly driving into the tackler when rising from the ground and trying to pull penalties. Happened to Blair twice. I was more upset with the drop balls, dumb kicks, over the sideline tackles, and the total lack of creativity in attack. It's been a problem all year. If you don't score points you don't put pressure on the opposition.

Spot on
People dont see _why_ the ''discipline'' is poor
Discipline is a poor word here
Whats happening is a _last resort_ when opposition forwards win the ruck…

The team has been on the wrong end of the penalty count in nearly every game they have played this season, whether they have won or lost and regardless of if they have been dominating or are being dominated in the ruck - it is a discipline problem.

If it's not a discipline problem, then Potter needs to call a meeting and sit down with the ref's boss, during the week, to get some clarification on rule interpretation, because if the lopsided penalty count against us continues, you can forget about WT making the eight this season.
