Regarding gower, i dont think he is a huge loss. Everyone complains we don't have a big enough set of front rowers and he doesn't fit the bill. In the NSW cup GF although he tried really hard and didnt do anything wrong, he was clearly outplayed by second rate front rowers in Fred Briggs and Charlie Leano.
I think that the Fifita boys and Woods are clearly better prospects. I wish Gower all the best, but not going to lose any sleep over it.

i think makui still has another year in 20's

He no longer qualifies for 20's. It is why he was bought into the BRET squad so that Paul Fletcher could asses if he would be an asset next year.

 Maybe thats because Gower is a back rower not a prop. He was forced to play prop for half a season almost to cover the injuries suffered by the Balmain Ryde starting props early in the season. He is a destructive wide running back rower with great acceleration from a standing start and a dynamic running style. The fact that he was even able to lead a team from the prop position is testament to his workrate and skill level.

If you are going to criticise him as a player could you at least know the position he actually plays in

All i can say is…. " "

Thanks for the clarification smeghead - oh i get it Gower is better than Ellis, Heighington, Fulton, Moors, Akeripa Dwyer, Mataka and potentially Payten in that position. Add to this Flanagan and J Shirnack - i think we are well covered in this position. Still not losing any sleep.

Makaui would still be in BRET's plans wouldn't he?

Gower won the MVP player of the year award in State Cup playing OUT OF POSITION(against opposition playing IN POSITION). Takes someone with plenty of talent to do that..

I rate Ellis as a better backrower and Fulton as a better lock but thats about it.
