I think side panels look horrible generally. Only time I liked them was for the 05-07 jerseys with the honeycomb. Wouldn't mind seeing it return.
I'm youngish and was a Wests Tigers fan to begin with, not from either side. I think the classic design looks much better, simplicity looks great. Goes well with any support outfit and looks far better on the field.
The blood orange is horrible and only goes well with white (see Netherlands national soccer team). A more golden colour has far better combinations with black and white together.
Souths, Bulldogs, Dragons, Knights, Roosters, Cronulla, Manly all have "boring" and "dated" designs for the most part (you could almost add Canberra in too).
Don't see the issue for combining elements of the two greatest designs in rugby league together for the club that is a merger of the two. We get a great jersey and embrace our history.
The kiddies like the flashy plays, the likable players and winners.
