The longer term rotating chairman proposal is a reasonable idea, however this quote is oxymoron:

Should read **Wests Tigers** Banner. Balmain do not need uniting under the Tigers Banner as they have been Tigers since Day one… No wonder the Wests side of the fence gets fed up with the lack of proper brand and club recognition in the JV with public references like this.

Pretty sure there was only one Tigers team in NSW cup in 2012 and many years before that - **Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers.**

If the founding club identities at non NRL level are to be abolished, at least have the respect to honour both partners of the JV equally rather than have it portrayed publically as an extension of Balmain Tigers.

That was a condition from BOTH Balmain & Western Suburbs to agree to a combined NSW Cup Side.

The objective of a combined WT NSW Cup team was based on financial benefit, sponsorship arrangements and feeder team proximity at Concord. The intention was not to eliminate the identities of Wests & Balmain which still exist in 2013 at lower grade levels.

Hold on a second there, you say it was based on financial benefit and sponsorship arrangements, yet you want them to knock back the significant amount that Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club offered to put in as a sponsor? A agree with the person you quoted, they need to wear Wests Tigers jerseys, and actually it wasn't a condition of both, it was a condition of the Wests agreement which the Balmain directors couldn't be bothered fighting about it was so ridiculous (something which seems to be a common theme).

False. Get your facts right. Balmain did not easily give up the fight also - did you know at one stage the team was to be called Ryde Eastwood Magpies? both sides were not fully willing to 'let go'

Balmain was funded by Ryde Eastwood prior to a single WT team and the united team was suppose to be better for WT branding and sponsorship opportunities for WT overall not be branded with Balmain's nsw cup joint venture partner who is not a WT owner or partner.

Ryde Eastwood kick in around 200k while the rest of WT financial holes are obligingly taken care of by Ashfield (for NRL and NSW cup).

The WT nsw cup team is operated identical to BRET except for 6 games in a Wests Inspired strip (which many fans here have a problem with) and 6 campbelltown games. They are still called 'the Tigers' , same coach, playing roster, concord home base, sponsor and sending campbelltown based juniors to concord still applies.

WTFL wasn't questioning the Chairmans business associations/credentials, he is questioning his bias towards Balmain… Your argument is a completely separate one.

I'm not too sure how you perceive the point system works, but it is designed to encourage conversation on certain topics, and reduce others... Negative points isn't a life sentence, it's just a means to curb negative discussions like the OP's suggestion the Chairman is bias towards Balmain, based on his Black Bird obsession.

As to DiGirolamo, I have read lots of articles which relate to him, and it is a little concerning... Regardless, I'm prepared to have some faith in long-time servants of the clubs board for now, to allow this guy have the reigns. His suggestion about 4 year terms isn't silly. In the corporate world it makes sence as things take time.

There is valid reasons for a longer term chairman. What ultimately is needed is people who are not aligned in someway to Balmain or Western Suburbs… Thats the only way to be (or be seen as) impartial.

Grant Meyer is a good example of that and that is showing in some of the things he has worked on in WT.

What needs to be sorted first is WT structure and ownership. Then a more independent board can come in. Unless Balmain & Wests Group are no longer owners then you will always have some allegiance to one side and that may take many years to fade away.

AFAIK he's been a few times breifly at the edges in one ICAC investigation (the one going on at the moment). Di Girolamo who has known Obeid since school is the majority owner of Australian Water (btw close Howard associate and current senator Arthur Sinodinos is a former chairman). To my knowledge nobody has made any suggestion that Di Girolamo has done anything illegal - the SMH keep trying to put up a lot of smoke for their own reasons.

I couldn't say one way or another that the man has done anything dodgy or illegal and I doubt you can either based on the evidence. Until something else emerges I think he's entitled to the same presumption of innocence as anyone else.

As a previous loyal fan of the maggies and now a staunch supporter of Wests Tigers I want whatever is the best way forward for our club. Di Girolamo makes sence to me. Does not seem much has changed from 2012…..

Not so much the fault of WT in this case (and i am not really concerned about Fletcher as Coach) , but certainly the media does not help promote the proper/Correct WT brand and help preserve the legacy of Wests & Balmain EQUALLY.

Lets hope there is not a season of gaffes and ignorant oversights in 2013 in the rugby league media and or promotions of WT games (like Saturday's Balmain vs Newtown Scoreboard blunder)
