When I hear Siro or Pearce mentioned as Tigers legends on a topic regarding WT, even though they aren't, I can live with it as they are respectful former players giving an honest opinion. There not chasing the spotlight and most importantly they don't give you the impression that the club is still Balmain. On the other hand you have Benny and Blocky who are so self centred, stupid and so one sided, that nothing that applies to Siro and Jr applies to them.
Yes no one is bigger than the club, but with blocker, the way he carries on you'd think he owns the joint. Geez I'd wish Tommy comes out and tells him where to go. It's fools like this and the current Wests group board that have shaped us in what we are today.

You pose a good question. Did Farah have permission?

Do you know for a fact that he needed permission from the club to do that interview?

In addition, does the club have any control over what a player actually says to the media in a sanctioned interview?

As you know, Robbie is something of a media personality – he has a regular spot on Fox Sport (NRL 360). Does the club say: “yes Robbie, you can do the interview (or guest spot) and this is what you can say, and this what you can’t say”.

What about if he made the comments in question, not to Phil Gould, but in a post-match presser? Would it be OK in that context?

All oraganisations I have been associated with require staff comments to the media to be directed through a media department. To speak independently to the media, especially in an uncomplimentary fashion, would result in instant dismissal.

But, footballers seem to operate under different rules.

For example, I have heard and read interviews with Whatmough and Foran recently that were very uncomplimentary toward Manly’s management and Board.

St George players have been strongly supporting the appointment of ‘Mary’ as their coach next year; which seems to put pressure on their Board and management in the selection process.

Were these interviews sanctioned by their respective clubs? Probably not.

I don’t know if Robbie had permission to do that interview. I don’t know if Robbie needed permission. And, I don’t know if he had to clear the content of what he was about to say with the club either.

Moreover, I don’t know if Blocker had permission from the club to make his rant the other day. He is, after all, an employee of the club and, presumably, subject to the same rules.

Also, did Blocker have permission to reveal that Robbie spoke without permission?

I don’t know the answer to these questions and, until I do, I am reluctant to allocate blame.

Mate by my thinking everyone within an organisation would have to seek permission to be involved in an activity that is seen as outside the common practice that's accepted. In Robbie's case you'd think that because of the sensitivity of the matter, he understands he can't act alone, so he would have seeked permission, otherwise the WT could tear up his contract because he would of been in breach of it. In trying to answer some of your other questions, I think the Manly players might have been vocal but management accepts it because the player are pushing the issue to get out of their contracts. With Saints there's no malice, just freedom of speech and as for after game interviews, they must make themselves available as a requirement. In touchie subjects, of course they'd be sanctioned. They all know their duty of care, but some of course won't follow suit.
My main thing is, how would blocker know if Robbie had permission. Blockers actions could implicate someone, and who is Blocker to question someone within our club. Robbie is all WT. As far as I know, he can take blocker to court over this drama and blocker wouldn't know what he got himself into, yes blocker wants to play tough but he doesn't like to follow the rules. Blocker should be punted immediately, he never represented WT, he's a nobody, an employee only, and in anyone's books, for someone like blocker to question the integrity of a club captain, they should have been shown the door immediately.
