Discuss: Robert Lui's future in the NRL

The Seg is heading to the Panthers Happy.

Thanks MM didn't even see that

Well you'd have to think that the 9 will come down to either Thompson or Lui then unless they have someone coming through NYC or they have signed someone else

On that note the Cowboys really impressed me for about 65 minutes last night

Don't know if they can beat Manly in Sydney though

If Lyon is out and Matai is suspended Manly are next to no chance, they don't really have a lot of depth, especially in the backs. I expect Lyon to play if he's any better than 50% if Matai is suspended, but I give the Cowboys a huge chance.

They've signed a young Pom to replace Payne, forget his name. I think he may even be the GB hooker

They've got Anthony Mitchell as well GNR.

And forgot about Mitchell , he looks to be a talent as well

Well Lui's screwed then ,better get on first name basis with the Mackay Cutters coach

IMO 1yr is not a long enough ban. I guess it all depends on your opinion regarding the severity of physically abusing your wife, but as others have mentioned he's damn lucky to be getting another chance at all.

But he is a talent and sooner or later I think he'll back in top grade with one team or another. Id rather it wasn't us though…

BUMP:
Heard the dragons are now chasing him.

Not the most reliable, however.

If we could get him at bargain basement price…sign him up. It would be better than having no-one to partner Benji in the halves like we currently do.

If it is good enough for Cameron Smith and his filthy cohorts to continue their careers in the NRL after a blatant stuff up then Lui should be afforded the same chance.

We put good money and effort into him to get him up to NRL standard-I don't see why the Dragons etc should be reaping the rewards.

I am as disgusted as anyone with what he did to his missus by the way.

Interesting to see the Cowboys paid him $200k to sit on his bum all year - nice work if you can get it.

For sure. Now if only they can pay his wages again next season while he switches clubs to us….HAPPY DAYS, a free halfback!

No thanks. We "released" him go for obvious reasons.

We only released him to the cowgirls because he is from up there as well as his family, so if dragons pick him up what's the difference if he was with us I'd hate to see him go to the dragons and become a good first grader

I reckon there'd be a some catch all clause in his contract that would mean they didn't have to pay him if he found himself ineligible to play. If you were signing a player with charges hanging over him, you'd be stupid not to include that one. I doubt he cost the Cowboys much money in 2012.

I wouldnt be surprised if we payed part of his salary this year either?!

I'd take him back in a second.

Watched the dragons semi from last year the other night. Lui easily outplayed Marshall that night. Ireally don't think people understand how good he was and more importantly, how good he was for benji.

I would definitely take the guy back. Made a massive difference in '10 and '11, as compared to what we are now.

Would I like the bloke? Nope. But happy to have him back as a player
