The next headlines we will reading in the press several months down the road is .. former Tigers player Simona now addicted to steriods .. !!

Someone said it already, a new job is a cover for the up-n-coming court appearance. You've got to wonder if anyone would join that gym, fulling knowing the untrustfull things he did .. !!!

Betting on and against your team, effected everyone, your club, your team mates and your supporters. I wish him well and really hope the lad turns his life around, but it's hard to change the spots on dog.

PTs dont make much money, do they?

They often rent their gym space, so they're paying to be there. Some do well out of it, some end up with ongoing commitments to the gym and no income to show for it.

lol it's a funny old board this one.

Hatred for players like Tedesco because he has chosen to go elsewhere.

Best wishes for a piece of scum who bet against his own team and everything else that went with that. I hope he gets what he deserves.,

Tim Simona is far from scum. The guy put 25 dollar bets on…. hardly match fixing.. 1k, 5k, 20k... then it's a different story

The drugs are everywhere, who knows which other players have done it.

The charity thing was a result of the hole he dug for himself, it's not right, but he got caught up in gambling as so many people do - and it ruins their lives...

He owned up to it. He will plead guilty. He's trying to get his life back on track after poor decisions... I respect him for that. I think if we really gave a stuff about player wellbeing we would give him a second chance.

"He owned up to it"
I can respect that as long as he owned up to it before he got busted. Oh wait…

Ofcourse I understand the implications… it was dumb... but I actually think it was innocent - if he was thing to make financial gain from it he would have bet 1000 dollars...

he lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. He has/had a gambling addiction... it didn't matter if he bet on epl, NBA, nrl... it was all the same... he was just dumb and blind to bet against his own team... however I don't think he ever didn't try, or let someone score..

Not enough to support a coke and gambling habit that's for sure.

I can have sympathy for those who have an addiction, if they seek help before they stoop low enough to rip off charities and their team mates and supporters.

But I'm sure he has changed now. :unamused:

How many seek help before they stoop that low, before they hit rock bottom>?
Very few, if any…because in addiction theres something called denial where the addict doesnt believe he has a problem and thus require help
Its when youve hit rock bottom, your problem smacks you fair in the face (arrested, court, jail, loss of job, family break up etc) do addicts fess up and maybe seek help...maybe.

He didnt own up to anything and when busted continued lying to everyone. You respect that?

No offence but I don't think you can see the forest for the trees. He bet on his own poor performance. Regardless of how insignificant his bets were it doesn't get more significant than that.

The kid has issues and crap influences. His own team mates introduced him to drugs.

Was he playing his best is a better question. Common sense dictates that if you are betting against your own team your motivation to play your best is compromised. People gamble to win not to lose.

You need to remember is that he didn't have common sense … so yeah, in black and white terms you are correct. But the issue here isn't that clear cut.

In watching his games he didn't do anything to try and lose the game - he appeared to try to win.

He was just stupid... and is being punished to the enth degree for it...

Tell me - was he playing poorly? He has always been quite solid for us.

When he burst on the scene he was electric, scoring long range tries from impossible situations. The last few years he was…solid. injuries played some part im sure but he certainly did not mature into a star player like he seemed destined to.

+1

Couldn't care less about what this scumbag is doing with his life.

I was spewing when Teddy decided to leave but I can kinda understand his reasoning. As for trying to understand what this bloke did, yeah not possible getting my head around that one. And don't give me some copout excuse it was because he had a gambling addiction.

I don't understand it either but then I don't have a gambling problem. Simona is entitled to a second chance just like Packer.
I don't understand what Packer did either but somehow his now forgiven because it suits.

Well there ya go….
...because it suits.
Bang on

The difference is that Packer seems to have proven that he's turned it around. I'll admit I'm still not completely comfortable with him being here but he seems as though he has turned the corner.

When Simona actually proves that he's made a change I'm sure most people will come around. It's still fresh, he still has court hearings, he threw team mates under the bus in regard to drug use in his tell all with Rothfilth. IMO he has yet to take responsibility for his actions. When he has proven he's done that many people will go easier on them.
