Do some still Think Beau Scott wasn't Worth Buying?

When he came on the market, there was a lot here who were saying that we wouldn't want him.(even if we could get him)
He was and is exactly what we needed.
The difference in Parras defensive attitude is amazing , and in an story in the weekends paper , (sorry can't do links)they were giving the credit for that to Scott.

He's not just a top defender, but a forward leader as well
Pity we didn't get him

He's had a good start to the season but was average for Newcastle last year. He is hardly the only change to that Parramatta squad. I think the injection of talent across the park is what has given the whole squad confidence. They now have a pair of seasoned and talented halves and some good old heads in Scott and Gordon as well as extra strike power through Jennings and Gutherson. Massive changes.

I think the Scott and Gordon signings are an example that investing in experience can pay off, but you only need to look at Watmough for the potential downside of that…

I agree Scott would have been great for our pack, but he came with a high price tag and if we had signed Scott we probably would have missed out on the likes of Grant and a few others. Anyway after 80 minutes last Monday our pack was was very close to holding their own against the form pack in the comp and that was with our no2 prop in the sheds for most of the game and some very strange selections from our head coach

The halves or Gordon aren't responsible for the difference in defence.
And the players themselves attribute the difference to Scotts attitude in defence.
Also Zero missed tackles for Scott in four games

He only signed with parra cause they are closest to the hospital out west. His daughter has some horrible disease.

I'm interested to see how consistent he is throughout the year.

Wow - that's impressive! Especially considering how effective his tackles usually are…

This supports what Thunderlips just commented on

I agree that he would have been a great pickup, and exactly what we needed - though it's impossible to say whether we actually missed out without the contract $$ details.

Too old, not sure he will be around in our premiership window. I would rather develop our own backrow. Chris Lawrence is going ok.

he would have changed everything in our forward pack would have been an amazing buy those who think not do not know football

I think everyone agrees he's a decent player, and he seems to have helped settle the Parra pack. But he's about to turn 32\. Three years on Origin money is crazy.

Yep. We need a player who defends like Scott but at his age I reckon it's fine that we didn't try and get him.

See the point on Scott, we need something on the edge and depth off the bench.

Most of all we need leaders, tough ones who hate to lose and have a winning culture.

I would really like to get Tamou and Gillet if we can ditch Robbie and Brooks. Those 2 would make a dramatic impact into the squad, depth, leadership, quality, culture and both are winners.

I'd pass on both myself. Not what we need at the moment imo.
