Do we have any young guns?

Go to England and see what's there, Canberra did pretty well out of that. Or poach some good backs from Rugby plenty of talent there that could play on the wings, fullback or even 5/8

I'd like to see young Mapesone given a shot at 5/8 but the club seems to see it differently as he plays in Ron Massey Cup some weeks and ISP other weeks. When he played Holden Cup I thought he'd become a first grade 5/8 and he has a nuggety build and seemed to break tackles more easily than others. Some players seem to languish in the lower grades but given a shot at NRL they blossom.

Heaps…it's why both teams bombed in HM and Ball this season on the end of 40 pt drubbings most weeks..by 2022 we will be good to go

Don't you know Geo that the lower grades are just dogging it too? They all want to leave because our club is evil.

Anyway, we've had "stars" in first grade for years and been mostly bottom of the table. So … back to the original question, are there any players (wait for it) with potential in these sides that are getting flogged most weeks?

I like mapesone a lot..

On this subject, I can't believe we've essentially lost all of them.. We had the most promising young players in the entire comp and we virtually achieved nothing. Out of all that we basically have Brooks, and I'm glad we were able to retain him.

You really need a balance across the side, it's essential. That has contributed greatly to bringing us unstuck, having way too many young players and lack of experience in critical positions. Brooks needs an experience 5/8, even if we had a "young gun" I wouldn't be throwing them in there. We could do with an experienced fullback now too…. Ponga would've been a decent replacement though, even being young but any less than that kind of ability no way in place of someone with more experience.

Even if we did have young guns, the Roosters and other clubs will just cheat the cap and buy them up.

I reckon if we do have potentially great kids coming through, next time dont overhype or overate them untill they make first grade…first lesson should be learnt...
If they do look like being fantastic, pay them by the season on basic money UNTIL proven otherwise, then give them more as they improve season by season...second lesson to be learnt...
If they want out to another club, let them go without wrecking the cap....third lesson to be learnt....

You can't really do that. Look at Suli. I think the better option is to pay them but play them in first grade ala Suli.
