I think people need to forget his price tag for a second.

Even if he plays elsewhere in 2022, we will be liable for at least 50% of his income.

The question is, is he giving us 350-400K of value and I think he is. I still see him as a big leader in the huddles and he is finally able to play his best position IMO.

Respectfully Disagree,

Price Tag is VITAL as it is the value for money and the flow on impact to the squad.

I can see the positive in what your saying Spartan, however we must remember that Ivan secured Mbyes services and offered him the huge salary and then left us ALL hanging..Mbye was to be a big part of Ivans plans and after he left Moses was also shifted from pillar to post and I dont think it suited what he was supposed to be playing once the new coach came on board...he has been a useful utility player and has never tanked or spoke badly of the club, infact he conducts himself very well in regard to his positional shifts and the club as a whole...
It is past now how we got him and have to use him the best we can,Madge may have finally found a very good use for him back in his favoured halves position, his defense is very good as well as his ball distribution..he also seems to get Brooks to play his natural game which inturn has been much better for the team...If Moses gets an offer elsewhere next year I wish him all the best,as for this year I think he will be very useful until the season ends...

This halves pairing is a couple of games old & looking promising. If they keep their spots til end of season, it has potential to blossom. There maybe more suitors then with high demand for quality halves. I'm abstaining for now 😀

He has played 5/8 most of his career- can't believe Madge took him so long to play him there. He is a decent player just been screwed around. Very good defensively. Why let him go. What you gonna get for $400K

Ideally, yes.

Mbye not performing to his best isn't solely on him. We have jerked him around in 10 different positions and he's had pre-season in 3 different positions. I concede that he hasn't taken his opportunity but price tag shouldn't matter when picking teams. Definitely should matter with squad build up.

If we get rid of Mbye, where will that 400K be going? And whoever we pay 800K to, will they be judged as a $1.2M player? And as someone else said, I would still be happy to pay 800K toMbye to play for us than 400K against us. I like him because defensively he is very sound and never lets us down.

We Get a Saving of around 500K of our bottom line.

If no one is going to pay full freight, how?

If we pay another club $400-$500K to take Mbye and then buy a player for $400K, then we have a $400K player on the books for $900K, which is exactly where we are now.

It can never be a must because players get injured. It should though be a goal. The last thing we want to do though is make our team perform worse in order to meet this criteria.

u surely know what I mean...

The Thursten, The Dave Fafita, The Taumololo, Munster category of players that heavily effect the Teams recruitment and win percentage deserve the big bucks.

Not the Nice bloke Mbye who got lucky and for years at the Tigers who just provides versatility.

We Should not dismiss remuneration when judging a players value on the field and to the club

Serious question, ***why***?

I understand the impact of his salary on the make up of the squad, but after that what significance does it have to his selection and on field value?

Would keep on a contract more befitting.
Adds utility value to the team, good number 14 imo

I don't know whether or not we should keep Mbye. There are variables to consider.
- Can we pick up a good player in return?
- Does letting him go help us re-sign one of our better players, such as Luciano?
- Jackson Hastings - where will he play?
- Is there a spot for Mbye, Doueihi, and Hastings in the same team?

At this stage I think we're better off keeping him. So long as he's happy and keeps performing well then I have no issues.

Here’s a question. If he’s here in 2022, is he worth re-signing? Significantly reduced obviously.
