Do we keep Mbye?

We need to move him on, but not if we are paying 600k for him to play elsewhere.

Shows no passion or urgency in anything he does, has me completely lost how anyone could consider him captaincy material

The tribe has spoken ..
Trade him ..
We can get better for the coin he’s on .

At half he is probably playing at a 550 k level player .......unless you play him at half ...who would take him for 550 k .....thats the problem

He’s a crappy half .. even $550k is way overs

Your not providing any incentive for another Club to sign him...

On the one hand you say punt him on the other you say he’s not worth a PIE and Sauce...

You won’t get a better player in return for 150k if you are paying 800k for Mbye to play for someone else.. that’s the issue not simply punt him...

I said trade him ..
Reminder : block happy on Friday night .. I am !

For a PIE and Sauce

What are the chances we can restructure Mbye for next year and beyond?

I thought he & Brooksy looked ok yesterday.
Liddle also had his best game this year
Laurie is our best player hands down, Douehi not far.

What if we keep Mbye until until 2024, we restructure his deal next year and extend him two?

In stead of paying him $850k-900k 2022, we could get Mbye down to $750k 2022, $700k the 2023 and $600k in 2024? These numbers could even be lower, am just using them as an example.

That would mean the player has a future, he gets a bit more confidence, we get continuity in the spine and we get to take Mbye's effective salary to say $700k a year over the next three years? What are your thoughts on this?

Lets be honest, he isn't going to get that sort of money elsewhere. We get some cap relief next year and we also get to give him a chance to see what he can do with Brooksy, again, I think they combined well yesterday. Seems silly to start all over again with someone else if the combo flourishes.

The NFL does this sort of thing a lot to reduce the cap $ on guys that are being paid overs or regularly injured.

Absolutely not. It's criminal with what he's currently being paid and moving forward, it's no secret he's not in the club's future plans. Based on how he's performed so far, nor should he be.

Nope, I think we just hang on and get him off our books once and for all at the end of next year. No point prolonging the agony.

If we had the opportunity to get rid of him a few weeks back when everything was looking good and we didn't, we had rocks in our head.

It's going to cost us a lot of money to move him on for next year now.

Are we allowed to pay him out completely now?

Mbye should’ve had a bbq to celebrate the 150th time he’s been overpaid

Then we could’ve just sacked the fraudster

a big no.
The only place he somewhat fits is at 6 and AD is better there for us - we need AD at 5/8 and find a new gun centre....... from where I dont know :face_palm:

I'd rather pay him 500k to play elsewhere next year than give him another year.

His performance and effort is a big part of what is wrong with Wests Tigers. Senior players that don't give a toss, why should the younger players care.

I wouldnt keep MBye under any circumstances.

Yep. As soon as he put in that pathetic attempt on Reynolds? he should've been hooked from the field. That was as disgustingly disgraceful as it gets. He is of no use to us, would be happy to pay him his full salary to play for another club. Give someone a go who will at least have a bit of a dig. A peaheart setting the example/standards is not going to get you anywhere in this comp.

I'm extremely jealous of what he gets paid, aren't you?

We are not getting value for money out of him, if he is indeed on 800K a year, I would be OK with the club carrying $500K of that to have him play elsewhere next year and put that money and spot toward another centre, winger or second rower.

Exactly. Use him where possible but if he doesn't deserve to be in first grade don't pick him. I wouldn't pick him.
