Very interesting debate on topic, what I had said previously during this discussion, that I agreed with CBs comment regarding RF not being in first grade, was made not on JTs presumed dislike for him or any misdemeanors that I'm aware of on RFs behalf but more so on the facts that we have been building a platform for 2017 and beyond by developing our younger talented players, the whole club is heading in the right direction as far as the business and team go..Robbie has been great for this club as a captain and player,he must also realise he is getting older as the game gets quicker with many changes happening year to year regarding rules changes and playing structures…I have never said at anytime that Robbie shouldn't get his money,he has to because he is entitled to it,however,if he earns it playing reserve grade sobeit..It is interesting also to see that Ennis will hang up his boots and retire at seasons end,he has had many a battle with Robbie in the NRL and SOO level regarding the hooking role..Ennis has chosen to go out gracefully knowing he has given a lot to the game and clubs he has played for.....I wish him all the best for his future undertakings, and hopefully I can congratulate Robbie on a very fine career when he leaves the game gracefully. ..I often look back at the years when I played in the Riverina, and wish I could still be having great games and times,AGE has got the better of me,but I still have the wonderful memories of a wonderful time in my life.....cheers ...
Where does merit based selection fit into this TT? Excluding him from the NRL team based on his age? The threat of ISP selection as a big stick to force him to leave the club?
Ayoub is a smart operator. His comment in the article today that “we will sit back and watch while he doesn’t get picked on his merits” concerns me about where this is headed.
Of course there is the related issue of how you treat one of your best ever players.
P&C, firstly Ayuob would always bring up the selection on merit card, its his job to promote his player, especially that Robbie is probably playing well in ISP….
Secondly,RF knows that the plans for this team was to develops the highly paid young guns that we have and take the club and team in a forward direction away from the squandering, squabbling boys club and Admin we used to have...
Thirdly,RF has had a reasonably great career with the WTs even though winning a premiership and make minimal appearances in the finals over the years as captain is his sole claim to fame...
In summation,Robbie is getting older and it is time for him to consider moving on,albeit with the rubbish back ended deals and money he apparently is owed from previous years caused by inept overbearing bigheads with little consideration for the clubs future,he should work with the club to go gracefully as a so called legend and not as an overwhelming, overbearing bighead....it appears to be sad the way things have gone for him,its not all his fault and its not all JTs fault either, there could be many underlieing matters including the years building up to this year from previous board members, managers and CEOs that have come to a head this year and the salary cap restrictions on our club have a huge bearing on this situation as well, once again the blame is squarely on previous boards and CEOs...
It can be viewed as an ugly situation, but in the end this team and club are a BUSINESS and hard desicions have to be made for the greater good...I hope everything works out well for all parties concerned....
