Does Tim Sheens Deserve A Contract Extension?

until he learns to use a bench properly no.. however there is probably no better option.. keep it going year by year i say. Id have him for next year

I went with the one year extension, keep him on his toes and keep the options open. Having said that, I think Sheens has done a good job this year and once again has done very well in bringing along some of the junior talent in the club. The top 4 should be the minimum goal once again next season.

I think he deserves one more year, and if we fail next year, his position at the club should still come under review. It's all well and good to perform at a high level one year, but you've got to take into account his past record and unfortunately the last 4 years doesn't make good reading.

But he definitely took his chance this year, no doubt, he was on the outer if we didn't make the 8 this year, and the man persisted with what he believed and well, we won 15 games in the regular season, pretty good effort.

Sheens already has next year…If he wants it he will be offered a 2 year extention until 2013...Future planning is essential for the Clubs on going growth and development...Waiting til mid season or seasons end is stupity..No club plans that way..unless it punts a coach...

I expect the announcement either just prior or at the conclusion of the Four Nations....

Stay Tuned

I voted for 'Yes 1 year'.

We already have him for next year so I don't think we need to extend his contract by more than 1 year. I can see us winning another comp with him as coach. We were very close against the dragons with the ref giving some bad decisions against us, and if we had Payten, Tuiaki and Moltzen available I think we would have won. Until the end of 2012 is enough for now.

I think we have finally come good and letting Sheens go now would be like starting all over again.
However having said that, if next season is poor he should go.

I would like to think we will make the finals next year and in that case yes he does deserve an extension.
1\. Because he is doing well with the team
And 2 because there is no one better avaliable

I can't see any other coach take over Tim Sheens to be honest. In 2003 he brought a lot of talent and now that talent has matured, the future certainly looks bright! I went with, Yes 2 years.

yes 3 years.

He can go down in history as the "wayne bennett of wests tigers" as far as im concerned - if he coached our boys for the next 10 seasons i'd be happy.

We've got too much junior talent to not keep him on. Look at the guys in our squad who he's brought through …

Moltze, Ayshford, Lawrence, Benji, Lui, Gibbs, Farah, Fulton, Heighno, Fifita, Dwyer and now Murdoch.

I voted 1 yr.
If he makes the finals again next year, extend it for another year.
I think maybe a small reason why our attitude changed towards winning at all costs this year is partly down to the fact the coach was under pressure and everyone knew a change in ways was needed.

Some of you guys talk of Coach Sheens as though he is a Novice or a Newby.

This guy is an institution in Rugby league circles who has a great history of creating structure where there was none, his man management commands player and media respect and he has premiership success x4\. Clearly 600 games plus eludes to the fact is people in footy are willing to pay him to drive.

What would you all be saying if Brian Smith was here, he has lost all his GFs so far - Does this mean he cant coach as well.

He has built us from nothing and while he isn't perfect - We should support our own.

Time to grow up.

There's only one better coach (as far as results are concerned) in the NRL ,thats Wayne Bennett.
And even then , I'd prefer Sheens attacking style of football over Bennetts boring style.

We did great this year, with so many injuries and with us not in the NRLs plans to be in the grand final.

Oh how times have changed!

All I can say is thank God most of you aren't running this club.

Well thats what usually happens when you get a few runs on the board after 4 years of medoicrity…he's actually earned some respect based on his results.Good on him,& hopefully he /we can do it all again next year rather than 2015

my thoughts exactly. and izo is right as well. his bench selections still worry me. deserves at least another year after getting us to within a bee's of the GF

Id say yes for 2 more years for sure.Hes the best coach in the league and if he only coached teams like wayne bennett had hes record would prove it.Sheens builds teams with clubs that dont have a bottomless pitt of money and bennet coached teams that were way over the salary cap late 80s and 90s.

I don't understand why we would extend his contract by more than one year at the moment. We already have him for 2011 and we don't know what will happen next year. Why commit ourselves to such a large contract? We did have a good year and IMO Sheens does deserve an extension but an extension until the end of 2012 is enough for now I reckon. If we make the finals again next year then maybe extend his contract by another 1 year in the offseason after next season. I hate ridiculously large contracts.

Does Tim Sheens deserve a contract extension…my oath he does...and he should be made a life long Tigers coach...He has really turned it around for the Tigers this year and look at the young talent for the future....One other thing look at this two grand finals coaches....no young up and comer there...all seasoned veterans who know the game...I for one am glad we have one of those type of coaches in our ranks....

It will be extended regardless of whether it is deserved or not.

It was extended when playing like busteds with no pride so it will be extended after a solid finals campaign
