Dogs need to trade

He's one to consider. The dogs definitely need a 7, we have one of the best Potential 7's in the game but we also have a bloke playing 6 who can play like a 6 & 7\. What could the Bulldogs offer us that we would trade? Josh Jackson? Big Sam? One of the Morris boys?

Food for thought.

Are you saying to trade Brooks?

Josh Jackson is exactly the kind of guy Tigers need, but personally I think you can find more Jackson-type toiling backrowers than quality halfbacks in the junior ranks. I wouldn't be in a hurry to trade Brooks just yet, as we don't really have quality options to replace him.

JLJ has some quality to him, but I would not be putting all our eggs into his basket. Mapesone has come on a lot in the past 12 months, maybe he has something to offer in a year or two, but not now.

If we still had Te Maire Martin, then we could be talking trade.

You really think the Dogs would consider trading Jackson, I would have thought he is the player they would like to rebuild the club around. Of course with Brooks a free agent come this time next year they can have a dash at him for the 2018 season without trading anyone

Des won't be there in 2018 unless they improve. I can't see how they can without a 7.

They have two 6's at the moment (like when we had Marshall and john by Cronk). They need an organising 7, I would shift Reynolds to 9\. Adam Reynolds would have been perfect.

But we have potentially the best Uo and coming 7\. Everyone here bags the shit out of him but unless you are willing to trade to boost up our stocks, everyone should just let him develop without whinging when he has a bad game.

I would trade him for James graham and some cash and pursue a big defensive running five eight. Or give Jordan rankin a try and secure Moses and teddy long term.

The thing that was clear to me last year is we don't have enough experienced leaders. With Halatau gone we are down to woods, sue and Lawrence….the rest go to water when the pressure is on.

Dogs won't trade anyone for Brooks they will simply move a player on or not re-sign a player to snare a quality half if that is what they are seeking. How many quality players have the Dogs let go or not re-signed RECENTLY that they really wanted to retain!!

He was very uninspiring bordering on useless in his preferred fullback position, so a big no to him in the team, let alone a critical half position, but I agree on signing Moses and Teddy long term.

I didn't think ranking preferred position was fullback. I thought he played all his junior footy in the halves. I'm not staying he is the answer at 6, just a way of enticing some real leadership to help woods and co.

If Dogs really wanted to keep Hodgo they would have but were content that Mybe would fill the halfback spot similar to Souths letting Sandow go as they had Reynolds coming through or Manly letting Hodgo go when they had DCE. The Dogs thought Ennis was past his best so they headed in a different direction by buying a younger hooker (even though it has proved to be a bad decision). Dogs don't let many go as I said before that they want to keep.

So how did that work out for them? They now need a 7 and 9 and they have 12months to sort it. They don't grow on trees and we have got trade bait. Who do you want for brooks? If you cant come up with a legitimate trade….leave him alone and let him develop or trade him now for something we need....an intimidator in the pack....I want graham. No good waiting another 12 months if brooks is a dud that many on here are predicting....we get nothing.

Given Ennis has retired then the hooker problem would be something that the Dogs would have faced this year regardless of whether Ennis was retained or not for 2016\. Nothing from my knowledge has come out from the Dogs about wanting a number 7 replacement other than media speculation linking Brooks & recently Foran for a time to them. Sometimes where there is smoke there is fire or alternatively the managers of Brooks & Foran may be involved in the process so as to push their price up by suggesting that clubs such as the Dogs are interested, next we will hear the Dragons, Broncos, Parramatta etc are also interested in Brooks.

If you are looking for an unlikely trade (which will never occur) then I would take Josh Jackson or a Morris brother for Brooks.

Talk is lichaa on outer and it is clear Reynolds and maybe suited to 6\. Option to move Reynolds to hooker leaves then looking for and organising 7.

Brooks Is the most progressed. Cronk, Thurston, hunt?, Marshall, Cronulla 7, Johnson, Taylor/elegy, etc. most are on the downhill or tied up. We could get overs for brooks of des is desperate. Basically he needs to win comp to keep his job.

I would take graham and one of the Morris boys and Eastwood.

Maybe not a trade…but..

The Bulldogs are looking for a recruitment manager in the wake of the recent shake-up that saw Des Hasler's right hand man Noel Cleal sent packing.

And one of the most experienced scouts in the business - Tigers recruitment boss Warren McDonnell - has put up his hand for the job.

Former Eels and Roosters prop McDonnell has been part of the furniture at the Tigers for over a decade and is looking for a new challenge - and getting the Bulldogs back on track certainly shapes as a that.

Good point geo, while our recruiting hasn't been the worst and I think he has unduly copped it given poor admin etc. it's not best in class. Fresh set of eyes after >10Yrs wouldn't hurt,…it not like he is in the Bennett class.

We should be so lucky that he gets the job

challenge?
McDonnell?
Get rid of him

MacDonnell wouldn't last two seasons at a real club

Massive win / win for us

I'm a fan of Moses Mbye and the bloke is a sensational goal kicker
