Doueihi is the WEAKEST LINK

I'd say Brooks has until after the parramatta game, but AD is surely done as a 6

If Brooks doesn't find form at 6 in the next 3 games he probably doesn't get signed for 2024 and that takes care of 2024, either way 2024 will not be at 1 million

Big problem is we have a AD signed and need to play him somewhere in 2024 and at the moment he can't pass and can't tackle and lost all form.

I would be looking to move AD mid year for 2024 if he can't transition to centre or fullback and use his 650k somewhere else for 2024.
Therein lies the problem. We still have to spend the $1.65M somewhere and all we seem to be able to do is over pay blokes. It’s quite the quandary

exactly all good having cash but spend on the right players and players who actually want to come to the club
The two that have long service discounts on the cap are nofo and Brooks so salary cap management comes in to it.
I still think we will get Moses and that will come with re-signing Brooks.
We then have Staines not on the books for 2024 and Laurie.
You then try and move on nofo
Therefore 2024 we could well have a spine of
1. AD
6. Brooks
7. Moses
9. Api

Staines demonstrated skill and toughness yesterday. I enjoyed his combination with Brooks up the middle and especially Brooks knew he was going to be there so dragged the fullback away.

Centre is a critical position for defence. If you are a poor defensive decision maker and poor in excuting a tackle, centre is the last place you should be. Olam and co would be licking their lips in anticipation of Doueihi in the centres.
Doueihi should not be at centre either. He should have a spell next week or be in reggies. Absolutely shithouse performance.

Doueihi was very good when he came over from Souths. It seems to me that Madge's emotional approach took AD's emotions over the top and messed with his ego and instincts. Not a good combo. He needs to calm down and enjoy his footy.

I agree, he's definitely not a 6. He's an ok defensive centre IMO. Short-term, he's our centre. Long-term we need to go to the market.
Even when he was getting compliments last year, it was never due to his ball playing. I've always said he'd be a better lock.

5th minute - first try to Kikau. They have us 4 on 3 but our spacing is good enough to cover it. Doueihi doesn't set his feet, runs past him then throws out a lazy arm. I mean this is just basic stuff that a first grader should know.

14th minute - intercept to Alamoti then JAC scores. He plays way too late, doesn't realise his error then passes anyway. We didn't have numbers so he needed to give his centre early ball or run it himself.

29th minute - Alamoti catches Doueihi's bomb and runs away, JAC scores. Not really AD's fault, Blore and Pole are a little lazy on the chase, assuming that Bateman would get him.

55th minute - Burton try. AD is at fullback now. They get a fast PTB, leaving a marker behind, and Blore fails to cover the space. Doueihi is one-on-one with Burton and misses him clean. If he just makes a small amount of contact, Bateman was there to clean it up. Laurie would have made the tackle clean.

get that swap deal for moses pumping 🤣
nahhh AD can be great for us just not at 6 imo definately a centre or lock

I'm of the belief AD > Brooks. Still.

AD is off this year, inexcusable.
Needs to find form in NSW cup.

Brooks is incapable of finding form and should be shown the door as soon as possible.

What's the worst outcome?

A) 2023, wooden spoon

B) 2023, wooden spoon - but have Brooks' 1m salary available to spend elsewhere ?
They're not mutually exclusive mate.

They both need to go. Big mistake extending Doueihi as well. Only the Wests Tigers would extend sub-par halves.

Doueihi was diabolical yesterday. He ought to earn himself a spell in state cup for that effort. Absolutely zero effort in defence. Has someone told him that social distancing is not required any more?
Finally someone who sees the light. AD is a terrible 5/8. He either plays centre or second row, if he learns to tackle. For the first time in years, I watched the channel 9 coverage. Joey asked Fittler where he felt AD should play, because the halves combination is not working. Fittler said he always felt he was a centre. Somebody else has seen the light. Brooks is not great but dont let that imbecile outside him off the hook.

Just on the Burton try, Klemmer was the main man at fault for me. If you watch the 3 tackles leading up to it, Klemmer sits behind the ruck having a bludge, when Joffa can't get up quick enough to be in the line, Klemmer doesn't react and spends a 3rd tackle having a rest behind the ruck. Blore missed the tackle, but it would have been an amazing tackle under the circumstances he was in. Klemmer just had to push across into the space.

Its these lack of efforts off the ball that cost us every year.

I know you love AD but he has been totally off for what 12 of his last 14 games, totally off is his issue. It’s not even a minor off either. It’s not just this year. He just doesn’t come across to being able to concentrate and be able to handle the speed of the game which makes him look lazy.

He does make some effort plays, big chases etc but the difference is he is costing us big time on the scoreboard directly with really simple rookie basic mistakes.

It’s one thing to not create an opportunity but he is currently a certain try minimum a game liability.

This year is worse than last year because he has no excuse of coming back from a major injury & got what he wanted which was 1st crack at 5/8th. He also got an extension. It’s bizarre how things worked out.

Re Brooks if he was released we don’t get $1m or close back this year he has already been paid a portion and a chunk is offset payments from years prior. We backloaded his contract before rules changed. Next year he wouldn’t be getting $1m or close to it regardless.

Right now both should be shipped off & replaced with some kids who want to have a crack. At worst we gain on the cap & still lose at best we gain on the cap and win more often.
