Drama At Wests Tigers

How about this gem, when the complaint is they don't accept any criticism:
"What is most galling is the arrogant presumption of Mr Cavanagh that he is in any position to level criticism of the Wests Tigers"
My dog, who is not exactly an expert in rugby league, is in a position to criticise Wests Tigers.
Exactly my thoughts....Hagi is a hypocrite of the highest order and seems very thin skinned

I guess this has been the problem since Day 1 ...whoever has felt they were in power has tried to push their side of the JV to a higher importance

It needs to stop from both sides .....one club ...one ground = harmony and hopefully some stability off / on field and some performances that make fans proud of the WT's

Sounds so easy ...hey ??

My issue is not with what he said it's the leak which is pathetic
I agree I'd prefer to keep everything in house, in the guys defence though I will admit I'd do the same thing. Reason being Lee gives Wests basically a show cause letter. The guy knows Lee has a whole law firm at his disposal, it's prob just out of self preservation he did it. There would be no other way he could fight back against the Tigers boardroom and Lee. Prob thinks by exposing it in the media it will put more pressure on everyone to resolve it asap to save the Tigers face so he's prob hoping it will in turn be dealt with asap and he will get to keep his position. Reason being while Lee and the Tigers have Brydens. He has the vast majority of public opinion. If he is sacked or stood down first question will be how can he be fired for remarks made at a function while for 10 years the Tigers board have remained untouched even though they have managed the Tigers from one disaster to another. It's a smart play by the guy.

Love how all the criticism is being made by people who have no idea of the setup of WSDRLFC. Cavanagh has probably gone about it the wrong way but he is only trying to show the total arrogance of those running WT. He suggested to Pascoe and Hagi that they should be more accountable for the mess that is WT. And the arrogant Chairman of WT takes offence and wants him hung and quartered and demands Wests Ashfield take action. Hence the disciplinary hearing. Wests Ashfield didn't have the guts to tell Hagipantelis to take a hike. Hagipantelis has no authority to tell Wests Ashfield what they should do with an elected member of WSDRLFC. The whole thing really supports Cavanagh's assertion of the arrogance of the clowns in charge of WT.

I agree with this....
Pascoe asked a question in public and got an answer he didn't like....then went and cried to Lee about it.
All this talk of taking ownership of the recent debacle clearly stops before it gets to JP and LH....
Imagine being invited to attend an event, then turning up to that event and telling the CEO and chair of the company they are shit. Not only that you do it in front of clients, then have a sook and leak to the media when they pull you up on it.

On the eve of their latest rebirth, Wests Tigers are facing more internal drama following claims that club bosses are not accountable and are part of the reason the club has struggled on the field for the past decade.
Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club chairman Shannon Cavanagh says Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis and chief executive Justin Pascoe need to acknowledge they are at least part of the problem at the club that finished with the wooden spoon last season.

Cavanagh is speaking out today before a disciplinary hearing he will front this week relating to a conversation he had with Pascoe in front of a club sponsor.
“They [Pascoe and Hagipantelis] are really lacking in self-awareness if they can’t acknowledge they are a big part of the issues at the club,” Cavanagh said. “I think they don’t listen and they can’t handle criticism at all. There is an arrogance that exists at the club and I don’t know why they would feel like that given the way the Wests Tigers have performed.”

The disciplinary hearing relates to a conversation Cavanagh had with Pascoe at the launch of the Tigers’ centre of excellence. During a lengthy and sometimes heated conversation, Cavanagh was asked by Pascoe who he thought should run the club. He suggested SEN radio host Jimmy Smith.
“He asked me out of the blue and I said Jimmy,” Cavanagh said. “And when I think about it he would be good. He played for Wests, knows footy and he has an MBA. I think he’d be a good choice.”

This column has the letter of complaint written by Hagipantelis tearing strips off Cavanagh. The letter to the Wests club says in part: “Mr Cavanagh’s conduct was reprehensible. In his capacity as Chair of Wests Magpies, he has not only embarrassed himself, but also your Club. More importantly from my perspective, and what is of particular concern to my Board, is that said conduct occurred in the presence of, and in fact engaged, sponsors of Wests Tigers. It has been now necessary for me to proffer a formal apology on behalf of Wests Tigers to Mr Fabry and to the other Sponsor with whom I spoke, for Mr Cavanagh’s misconduct.
“What is most galling is the arrogant presumption of Mr Cavanagh that he is in any position to level criticism of the Wests Tigers. To my understanding, confirmed by my discussions with our CEO, Mr Justin Pascoe, Mr Cavanagh has had absolutely no involvement in our Club’s operational matters ... In those circumstances, Mr Cavanagh has no foundation, let alone any entitlement, to criticise our CEO, Mr Justin Pascoe, the culture of our organisation and the manner in which it is operated or make any comment with respect to staff.

“... This is not the first occasion Mr Cavanagh has embarrassed himself by engaging in vitriol and criticism, in a public setting, of the Wests Tigers. The conduct being the subject of this complaint should therefore not be construed as a one-off but, somewhat disturbingly, a pattern of conduct.
“It is the view of the Wests Tigers Board that Mr Cavanagh is not a fit and proper person to fill the role of Chairman of Wests Magpies, or indeed, hold a membership.”
Cavanagh denied that he was in any away aggressive or out of line in his conversation with Pascoe. In a letter detailing the night, Cavanagh writes: “After I arrived home, I sent him [Pascoe] a direct message via Instagram at 11:56pm which said: ‘Thanks for the hospitality??? If that is Wests Tigers culture, we have problems. Very poor.’
“I also sent a text message to Simon Cook, the CEO of Wests Ashfield at 11:18pm which said: ‘Wow, Justin’s a great guy. And his mates’. I believe that my response to Mr Pascoe’s question concerning the CEO of Wests Tigers was reasonable given the facts that: (a) Wests Tigers have not made the finals whilst Mr Pascoe has been CEO since 2015; b) in 2022, Wests Tigers finished last; c) the media has branded the organisation with the terms such as ‘basket case’, ‘laughing stock’ and ‘embarrassment’, and; d) in 2018 the NRL suspended Mr Pascoe for six months due to ... not disclosing contracts as required under salary-cap regulations.”
Hagipantelis and Pascoe were contacted but declined to comment. Cavanagh’s hearing is this week.

Bottom line is he will probably get the boot for what he said. The WSDRLFC board has 4 Wests Ashfield directors and only 3 member elected directors. The WA side of the board didn't have the guts to tell Hagi to take a hike so they will more than likely vote to sack Cavanagh. Absolute disgrace if it happens.

Also wee

Also weak as piss.

Welcome back to 2006.....
Magpies are agitating arseholes of birds in real life - Picking fights where there is no fight to pick...
The football club whilst being placid for some time at senior level, has often been the same.
From what I see, This goon is no different to most on this forum....
Real easy to stand back and throw rocks at someone elses' windows....

Wasn't long ago, Wests Juniors had nothing to do with Seniors due to internal fighting at the club...
Probably still that way?
Cambo resigned their seat (Maybe even partnership/ownership) from WT's.

The biggest problem with the club is they're all but irrelevant at senior / business level and they just can't swallow that.... There'd be a bunch of them advocating for the dissolution of WT's and a return of the Magpies to the NRL.....
(Dunno where they'll find 80% of their fan base from to replace the ones they lose...)
Reasoning for the re-branding of the Reserve Grade Side from WT's to WM's...

On that, Funny all the spruiking about having a not aligned Branding of the Reserve grade side was working for the successful sides seems to have died off now that Parra, Souths and now Roosters have aligned their reserve grade sides... I been waiting for the reversal of the argument.

Ole Cavannagh happy to shit on the WT's performances....
I don't remember the Magpies going real well either....
And isn't WT's actually employing people in SWS to strengthen the Pathways / Comp / Magpies out there?

Picking fights where this is no fight..
Why wait until things are seemingly on the up to start kicking up a stink?
Jimmy Smith (FMD) He's not even that good in Media....l

Top post. Cavannagh is a stooge

Who is he to suggest anything to them though - you’ve said it previously - he has nothing to do with WA (owner of WT’s)

Be like some random bloke walking past telling me I did a shit job painting my house - I’d tell him to f off as well…
No matter how accurate he was.
Would you go to his boss and tell him to sack him? They all come across as arrogant twats.
