Dropped Lolohea faces fullback challenge

Problem is like cricket if your replacement scores a ton your a dead duck. Especially if your not an established star.

Thompson jobs to lose this Saturday Night I reckon. Of course I would prepare a fully fit Lolihea however if he cant go hard for 80 minutes then reserve grade is a good place for him.

Yes , bit like the New York Yankee 1st baseman's story

Not unusual that players have a game off , this bloke's one off replacement was Lou Gehrig , who then went on to play 2130 games straight

Back on track , Thompson played well on Saturday , how he handles 80 minutes at fullback will be the big question

Tui will play a lot of games this year. Not sure what the kid has done that has so many against him.

Every year there is a forum target, poor Fitzy copped it for 1/2 a decade, this year Brooks and Tui and maybe Lawrence will be the targets. On what I saw at the back end of 2016, Tui was the only one that could change a game and that includes Tedesco

Who's against him? I cant find one poster who is against Tui doing well for us, and cant see one post that is happy he's been picked in reserve grade.

There seem to be a few who take great joy in reminding Russell when something goes against Tui.

Maybe because Russell was taking great joy in telling me how good Lolihea was going and how wrong the doubters were?

Thats to do with Russells blind love for him and inability to recognise the possibility that Tui may need work e.g. fitness. It has nothing to do with Lolohea and everything to do with Russells stubbornness. No offence Russ, my trash talk to you about Lolo is all in fun from my end. I really hope Tui ends us every bit as good as Russell says.

Thompson has a great step, LoLo tries to trample opposition, competition will create strength at fullback

Aaah really? Lolohea has one of the best steps in the whole league…

He'll be fine long term, as he said he has a few things he needs to work on. I'm sure we'll see him in the top grade again soon enough if it's not R1.

How long until he gets "homesick " and requests a release?

One its a trial

Two its a trial

Three its a trail

Why did it became a trail for , did the 2nd trial become to trying , or was he found guilty in the 2nd trial

Perhaps the first two should have been trails ??

I'll be surprised if Tui is not in the starting side at fullback, if not in round 1, it will be soon after. Ivan (or Hodgo) may have identified some refinement required but I think he has a lot to offer, and he's keen.

The way I see things is that Tui is a work in progress as a fullback, poor kid has been moved from pillar to post the past few seasons so hasn’t had the chance to fully develop the skills needed to specialise in any position.

No need to rush him with such a long season coming and to give him 80 mins in a trial against players that he should obviously dominate will give him a heap of confidence.

As players always say the step up in game speed from reserve grade to NRL is massive so why not give him a full game where things aren’t moving quite as quick to let him hone his skills and providing he dominates the position as you would expect, he can take that confidence into first grade.

The competition for spots is a good thing, let's be honest about that. If Lolo needs to work on a few things such as his fitness and positional play at the back etc, then that's fine. It's more pleasing to hear he knows he has plenty of work to do and both he and Thompson are pushing each other to better themselves.

You mean me, I like Tui, I have Tui in my fantasy team as I thought he was going to go alright.
But anyone who says they would rather Tui at fullback over RTS in our team leaves themselves open.

You clearly haven't watched the Australian team at all over the last decade…

I think it became a trivial by the time you were finished with it

"Got stuff to work on"…thats what the pre season is for. What is he going to refine this weekend in reggies that he has failed to do the past 4 months?

The other thing that I like about Tui is he can take advise from the coach and apply himself to do better….not spit the dummy or throw the toys out of the cot like some we have had at the club....

Anyone seen Russell..

I believe he's playing for the Magpies this weekend so probably at training!

I like Russ and his input and especially when he supports a particular player such as Tui….....

Just hope he doesnt end up being like Byron,he had a love affair with RF and you couldnt say anything about him without Byron going off at you...

be cool Russ,Tui has a lot to offer this team and I think we will see plenty of him in the FG side....
