For many seasons now we have lost more talent than we’ve brought in.
Didn’t Marina Go say 3 years ago that our salary cap dramas wouldn’t be fixed until 2018?
You can’t rebuild if there’s no cap money to bring in decent players.
This year, as I see it, is the start of a ‘normal’ season where we have a reasonable SQUAD and a well qualified coach. If coach Cleary is re-signed in 3 years then the crap we have deservedly copped from the media over the years is done and dusted.
I don’t get it either. What are we rebuilding this year? It’s the first year in about 5 years we are operating with an evenly spread cap. We could definitely benefit from one or two marquee players, but so could a lot of clubs. This is not a rebuilding year.
How many of our "big 17" were playing with us last year.
No matter what you think of who we signed. They are all pretty much a new team. Only a halfback a second rower and a few forwards remain the same. Our defensive combinations are going to take time, people need to trust and need to know when to trust and when to assist who is left and right of them. That won't happen for 3-6 months. Even then we will have to get our attack combinations worked out, see if people are making mistakes in areas and working on the little things.
2019 will be the year something might happen with the tigers. 2018 is 100% a rebuild year. We (mostly rightly) redid our team as a clean slate. No way we will be a top 4 team this year.
We’ve been DE-building these last few years. As I said, we’ve lost better talent than we brought in for many years. We haven’t been RE- building
