DUMP Benji Petition - Now online

Im not sure. There were strong rumours that fans saved Potter.

I simply think it is naieve to think or expect the club will select players based on a petition.

I support Mayer for saying so.

Yes, that's quite right …. The fans can claim success on Potter !
I have to admit I am not a fan of Potter or Mayer but I am a fan of freedom of speech. When I saw Mayer on the news tonight, when the reporter put it to him about the fan petition, he came over a bit arrogant in his response. If he chooses not to listen to the fans, he does so at his own peril.

I'm waiting for the day my child serves me with a petition to stop serving him Green Beans…

When he was 1, he would just throw his dummy from his cot?!

He was just copying his Dad ,Watto

So the coach was saved by fans, and now those same fans are making a petition to get rid of one of his selections? That makes a lot of sense.

Surely as coach he'd have the final say in team selections wouldn't he? If not then who's choosing the team?

Christ, get a grip, he has been listening to the fans ….moreso than most CEOs.... :unamused:

Questions for the Boss.

...he listens to rational thoughtful sensible ideas and questions, god help us if we begin to run this team at the behest of petty silly online petitions

Think you are right Happy..marketing$ and 2nd tier cap pressure are definitely "influencing" Potters decision on Benji. On 2nd tier cap..IMO don't want to have to pay too much back next year in fines or reductions in 2014 cap so am happy to let dogs lie in 2013 and suffer the next few games.

In that case why do we have this stupid petition going?

Finally Mayer shows he is not hear to win a popularity contest. About time he showed some leadership and backbone.

I dont rate Potter but whilst he remains coach, he picks the side.

_Posted using RoarFEED 2013_

So no freedom of speech for fans to vent their spleen ?

No. You want to pick the team every week do you? Or put it to a vote of fans? Get over yourself, it's the coaches team. Not yours, not the fans.

We just get to support whoever he picks. If you don't like it go follow someone else.

Understand the emotion with the petition and feel the same way about Benji. but also understand the commercial reality of running a business and in this case think we are better off letting him continue to 'sh#t in his own nest' and not put us in a position where we start behind the 8 ball in 2014.

I cant believe this has made the mainstream media:

Look at what youve created alexaki…

>
IT wasn't supposed to end like this.
>
Angry Wests Tigers fans have taken the extraordinary step of setting-up an online petition demanding Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter dump star player Benji Marshall from first grade.
>
The petition was ignored on Tuesday night though with Potter retaining Marshall at five-eighth for Saturday’s nostalgic match against St George Illawarra at the SCG.
>
Marshall had another shocker on Monday night during his side’s heavy 56-14 loss to Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium.
>
He had just three runs for ten metres, made three errors, eight tackles and three missed tackles.
>
And Wests Tigers fans appear to have had enough.
>
On Monday night, they jeered and heckled Marshall, in an aggressive tone, amid claims his effort levels were unacceptable.
>
Now a petition is growing under the headline: "Michael Potter: Drop Benji Marshall NOW!"
>
Traffic is steadily growing as fans want Marshall axed. The petition reads:
>
"To: Michael Potter, head coach,
>
We, the members, supporters and fans of Wests Tigers acknowledge and appreciate everything Benji has done for the club.
>
But we believe, in order to stop this ongoing farce and save what legacy Benji has left, and based on his current form and off-field disrespect, he must be dropped from the team now!
>
Drop Benji Marshall NOW!"
>
Fans were ready to sign-up on Tuesday night.
>
Deidre Folpp wrote: "He’s making more blunders than ever. He’s embarrassing. Time to go Benji."
>
Joe Camilleri posted: "Give the new blood a go. Why keep someone who has no value to the team’s future. Stop wasting people’s money and time."
>
Alan McFarlane: "Been a follower of Wests Magpies since 1948\. I am ASHAMED."
>
Alan Stevenson: "He is playing with NO passion or care factor. Give young (Luke) Brooks a shot before next year."
>
Kuz Kuzela: "It is becoming an embarrassing spectacle. For the sake of Benji and the sake of our club — please release him NOW!"
>
Cory Buckingham: "No individual player is or ever will be bigger than this great club!"
>
Buckingham initiated the site from his Townsville home.
>
It would appear the fans discontent turned to anger after Marshall appeared in a You Tube clip wearing a jumper of the Auckland Blues, his new Super Rugby franchise.
>
Despite his lacklustre efforts in recent weeks, Marshall said earlier this month he wanted to go out on top.
>
In a newspaper column, Marshall wrote: "With my future confirmed, over the final rounds of the competition, my final rounds in the NRL, I want to show what I can do.
>
"And I want to win. Losing’s not good enough."
>
Marshall will play his 250th game in the round 25 game against Souths at Allianz Stadium.
>
Wests Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer did not to want to comment on the petition.

Heres an idea, I'll dress up in a dragons jumper, get a foto of it, start a petition to get Steve Price to dump Brett Morris, we can all sign it and send it to Peter doust, who is much smarter than mayer & listens to his clubs fans…...........................oh wait........................anyway, then Price wont risk his peril 😱pen_mouth: .... he'll dump Morris and we'll be able to beat them on saturday...nyahaha
