We really need though one of those two players interchanging ET and having an impact at that time.
I reckon ET is a real good player but he is one of those players that you need everyone else around him doing the hard hit-ups and denting the line. When that happens he can slot in and ballplay a little, make the odd hit-up but most importantly defend like a demon.
I reckon ET is a good player too. What he brought to us at first looked outstanding. However the last few weeks he looks flat and not fit enough to maintain the job we need from him. He has come up with a few lazy plays in defence and a few errors in attack and i reckon its because he is struggling with fitness. Maybe not having Farah there has taken it out of him. Farah does so much work defensively. Come to think of it i reckon that could be the change in ET, there is no other real worker in the middle with him. So maybe im being too harsh on the guy and should be looking at the other middle players to step up and take some of his dirty work load that we have lost by not having Robbie there.
After a flying start to his career with us, he has been pretty average lately. But i think you hit the nail on the head. A hooker is not just about passing the ball its also about holding the middle. Once Halatau comes off i reckon the pressure is on Et to keep that middle tight, leaving him with little energy in attack.
Agree with all of the above. We lack that other worker to take some pressure off ET which Farah would of done. He has limited his link play since Moses has stepped up and taken more control also.
When Halatau goes off, ET steps up his defence duties to plug that gap which limits his attack. That is the key flaw from the bench but then i was never convince that Cherrington could maintain the defence workload of Farah either. Liddle on the other hand is a super star in the making.
ET is still a key retention for us as when he came into the team, his work rate and experience improved the teams performance. Losing ET next year would be a key loss esp for a Flopper.
If not for contract issues RF would be in the side and the work load is eased for ET. Which would allow ET to be a link. He is not a big strong running forward but he can play at the line. Not sure about the flop but he is certainly 3rd man in which as some pointed out earlier slows the play of the ball down. I think he should be retained for at least another 2 seasons.
