I'll be devastated if Elijah leaves. As someone said earlier in the thread, not everyday you land a guy who makes 50 tackles a game in addition to strong attacking skills.

Im just guessing, but i reckon if he makes 50 tackles? only 10 are first contact, 20 second contact and 20 third contact. To ny naked eye people are being fooled by his stats. Could be wrong.
You have a point but he makes some key tackles as well plus even 2nd or 3rd in he tends to win the wrestle.
@teddy23 said:Surely the people saying they wouldn't care if he left are joking.
ET is an absolute workhorse plays virtually the whole game and just does all the 1%s.
He controls the line speed, always runs up with the forwards to keep the defence in two minds and if the forward doesn't pass if you watch closely you'll see ET go in and try push the runner to get a few more meters and he does it the whole game!
Makes 50 tackles, and has a good attacking play.
People wanting impact, that's what we should get with our props and second rowers.
I would be gutted if he left, ET is a big reason why we are playing same good footy lately.

Yeh maybe. I dont know, im yet to be convinced we cant fill his role with someone physically more dominant. He isnt playing 80 minutes so we aren't saving an interchange, and Woods has basically taken over his ball playing role leaving Elijah to do basically nothing in attack. So that leaves 60 minutes of his defence….well i think that is highly overrated. I see the Nathan Hindmarsh 3rd man in flop way too often.
Im starting to think with Woods showing just as much class with his ball playing that we would be better suited next year with the likes of Felise or Siro in the team rather than a small lock who gains 20 metres every week.

You make good points but I can't see Felise or Siro getting through as much work as him.
We really need though one of those two players interchanging ET and having an impact at that time.
I reckon ET is a real good player but he is one of those players that you need everyone else around him doing the hard hit-ups and denting the line. When that happens he can slot in and ballplay a little, make the odd hit-up but most importantly defend like a demon.

@king sirro said:Maybe not having Farah there has taken it out of him. Farah does so much work defensively. Come to think of it i reckon that could be the change in ET, there is no other real worker in the middle with him. So maybe im being too harsh on the guy and should be looking at the other middle players to step up and take some of his dirty work load that we have lost by not having Robbie there.

It's an interesting point. Maybe this is an issue. You are right in that we don't have many workers up the middle.

I reckon ET is a good player too. What he brought to us at first looked outstanding. However the last few weeks he looks flat and not fit enough to maintain the job we need from him. He has come up with a few lazy plays in defence and a few errors in attack and i reckon its because he is struggling with fitness. Maybe not having Farah there has taken it out of him. After a flying start to his career with us, he has been pretty average lately. But i think you hit the nail on the head. A hooker is not just about passing the ball its also about holding the middle. Once Halatau comes off i reckon the pressure is on Et to keep that middle tight, leaving him with little energy in attack.

Agree with all of the above. We lack that other worker to take some pressure off ET which Farah would of done. He has limited his link play since Moses has stepped up and taken more control also.
When Halatau goes off, ET steps up his defence duties to plug that gap which limits his attack. That is the key flaw from the bench but then i was never convince that Cherrington could maintain the defence workload of Farah either. Liddle on the other hand is a super star in the making.
ET is still a key retention for us as when he came into the team, his work rate and experience improved the teams performance. Losing ET next year would be a key loss esp for a Flopper.
