Elijah Taylor Re-Signs till 2020..

With Packer and Matulino on board for next year I think It'll create a bit of space for the lock in the middle, especially off the back of some quick play the balls. I wouldn't mind having a lock with some decent footwork and a bit of pace. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Lawrence wear the 13 and act as a ballplaying link in the middle, with Taylor on the fringes. Taylor would tighten up our defense on the edges and defending in the middle would assist with Lawrence's issues reading with reading/decision making.
Aloiai may be capable of developing into that big damaging second rower over the next couple of seasons.

ELIJAH Taylor is weighing up a two-year deal to remain at the Tigers or return to his native New Zealand and take up a contract with the Warriors as he deals with a delicate family situation.

Taylor’s extended family wants him to return to New Zealand when his deal expires with the Tigers at the end of this year, and the Warriors are keen to bring him to the club where he made his debut at in 2011.

However, Taylor has been faced with a private battle involving his one-year-old daughter. She was placed into intensive care earlier this year after suffering a seizure, before being diagnosed with encephalitis — the sudden onset of inflammation of the brain.

Doctors have told Taylor to remain in Sydney.

“I really want to stay,” Taylor said.

“My daughter had an episode at the start of the year. The doctors have advised us to stay in Sydney. It’s a decision based around my daughter’s (wellbeing).

“Hopefully we can sort it out by the end of the week. My family comes first in making decisions; it’s what’s best for my family.”

The 27-year-old has spent the past four years living away from New Zealand after joining the Panthers in 2014\. He has been a rare pillar of consistency for the Tigers since signing midway through last year.

Should he recommit to the club, Taylor has thrown his hand up to replace the outgoing Aaron Woods as Tigers skipper having led them during Wood’s absence this year.

“For the club and the coach and players if they asked me to do it I would grab it with both hands,” Taylor said.

“It’s something out of my control. I can’t make decisions on that.”

With the Tigers missing another finals campaign, Taylor has called on the club’s senior players to ensure the side stays motivated during the final weeks of the season. They play the Titans on the Gold Coast on Sunday, having one just once in their past 10 games.

“It’s a little bit difficult knowing you’re not going to make the finals,” Taylor said. “Your ambitions every pre-season is to play finals football. Unfortunately it’s not going to happen for us this year. We’re still trying to build a culture here and the true colours are going to come out because there is not much to play for.

“It’s imperative that senior players make sure you’re doing everything right, we have a lot of young players in this team and some are still learning how to play first grade and the grind of week in, week out football.”

The only problem with ET as captain is that he isn't a sure pick in the team. I love the defensive work he does. When he is in the middle in attack he also adds a lot to the team. On the edge though he isn't dynamic.

He is a player that a team has to workaround a bit.

First player chosen in my team. Needs bigger forwards around him.

This is the issue that I see. I really like him as well but you have to workaround his downsides.

I hope to god that he doesn't leave us as I love what he adds to our team…..

But in the bigger picture he needs to do what's right by his family and especially by his little daughter.

For how hard he goes every week, whatever he chooses he has my blessing...

Today highlighted that Taylor is not big enough or has the speed to be a wide running forward ..I like him as a player but where he fits in is the question.

ET is like Dallas Johnson used to be for the Storm. Good defender and worker who can use the ball. With big forwards like Packer/Matulino he fits in the middle.
I still believe he can do a job wide but someone like Bodene Thompson is more effective on the right. Either way he's very important to WT and very likely captain.

Taylor has a lot of family in New Zealand and they are keen for him to return once his contract with the Wests Tigers finishes at the end of the season.

A delicate family situation though might be enough reason for Taylor to reject the offer from the Warriors and stay with the Wests Tigers.

Im hoping he goes to the Warriors. Its hard to say that because he seems like such a nice bloke, but he offers nothing on the field. I wasn't sold on Marsters but his performances in the centres is an excellent apprenticeship to moving in a spot closer in. I see no benefit in having Elijah at the club when young guys in Marsters, Alioai, Twal and Eisenhuth are outplaying him. Lawrence outplaying him too.

ET was awesome out there today.

Doing what exactly?

His defence and workrate and quality plays were all awesome. It was a great effort.

He did nothing special today whatsoever.

I see it differently. Did you see the try saving tackle when Cleary busted us open and passed it to someone and who was there chasing to make the tackle - ET.

That saved us a try. He consistently does work like that. If you don't see it I suggest you watch the next game and look for the effort that he makes.
