Ellis home sick??

THE Wests Tigers know how important Gareth Ellis is to their premiership plans. That's why they have taken the extraordinary step of letting him fly home to England for a few weeks.
Ellis is back home in the Old Dart right this very minute, recharging he recovers from that bloody ankle injury that has muzzled his performances since the start of the season.

That he has gone home has given rise to fears the gifted England backrower is suffering from homesickness.

It's certainly the belief amongst some of his teammates but something Tigers chief executive Steve Humphreys denied, denied, denied when contacted yesterday.

"He had a long conversation with [coach] Tim Sheens and out of that it was agreed it would be good for him to change the scenery for a couple of weeks to freshen up," Humphreys said. "He is not suffering from homesickness.

"He's just frustrated. He had a rough off-season with injury."

The Tigers plan to have Ellis back for their blockbuster against the Dragons in Round 12.

The way I see it as long as he can get the same rehab in England that he can in OZ then he is fine to go back to the UK and spend some time with family and friends . The break might rejuvenate him and recharge his batteries and when he is back we might see the Gareth Ellis from late 2010 . Go Gazza

He is thinking of living here permanately when he retires,so I would say it is just a visit, nothing else.

I don't see a problem with it, he cannot play at the moment and he's only 2-3 weeks away from playing so it's probably not a bad idea to let him go back to England for a week or two to see his parents.

It fair enough. I dont think unless you have lived or worked overseas you can really appreciate how it can sometimes really hit you how distance effects you when your away from family and friends. His wife will be feeling the same and that will have an affect and impact his overall mood and motivation, especially when he can't play.

Earning a good wage and being able to fly back for the odd week here obviously helps but although we speak the same language or cultures are different & can take a while to get used to. My wife and I moved to oz as we travelled and fell in love with this this wonderful country but remember Big Gaz came to play footy and still loves the UK.

Take a break Gaz and come back fresh ready to bash

Massoud is a gutter journalist, and quite possibly worse than douchebag-at-large Rothfield.

Hurry back soon Gareth

Ellis is injured. If he is rehabbing over there I don't see the issue with this at all. It's not like he needs to be around the team to rehab.

Actually I think just the opposite. Even if he is not playing, the young tiger forwards could do with his guidence and advice at training, in video session etc…let alone the fact that the club should be in charge of his rehab.

Whats this crap about being homesick? he isnt 5 years old.
