When Kent asked him "have you tried to convince Moses to see the year out" and he said "no I haven't" that proved that he is a poor leader who doesn't have the Clubs interest at heart. I feel we need him to leave so we can progress as a Club.

I don't think I'd listen to the captain when sorting out my life and career

Teddy has to do the best for Teddy , and Woodsy has to do the best for Woodsy

This will be Woods biggest career contract and depending on the length maybe Tedesco's as well

No matter what happens I hope they are both happy , that is the most important thing in the end , isn't it ??

Happy you will upset the official weststigers witch hunters and burners with comments like that or to use another Monty Python reference "first offence crucifixion".Though i suppose in Tedescos case he does have a prior

Good email

Its funny, 37 years ago Wests lost almost half their team in one hit…that was painful but it was like ripping off a bandaid in one second....this is like a full body way over days and weeks

Thats because we were never privy to what was happening then and or rumours, through social media. Now we are at the point of predicting what a man is thinking through his body language.
I cant believe how people have turned on Woods its like a feeding frenzy and anything good he has done for the club is being ignored because some dont like his indecision and the manner in which he is portraying it.
If he does stay some are really going to get over it but based on some of the comments not sure they will. Once you start attacking the character of a man a signature doesnt change that.

If you try and defend Woods, you're fighting a losing battle. He's had an offer, that is overs for his ability, on the table from this club for a long time now. He is just using the Bulldogs now to squeeze more out. Whether he stays or goes is irrelevant to me at this point. If he had taken the overs that was offered to him along time ago and got on with business, I'd be praising him now, instead, he's acting like a grub and dragging this whole situation out for more money that he doesnt deserve. If he stays, the respectable thing he needs to do is hand back the captaincy. He is no captain, he's a grub. I've lost a lot of respect for him for the way he's handled himself. If I were Pascoe, I'd be pulling the offer from the table.

while i dont agree with all of his actions/comments and dragging the club through the mud, he deserves as much money as he can get.

if someone wants to sign a player for 4 mil a season, i dont see the issue with the player bargaining for more. he should get as much as he can

here, woods is entitled to use the dog's offer to leverage for more money for us. we can always say no, and he can always sign elsewhere if he wishes

That was a good rant !
And I totally agree !
The club needs to STOP pandering to these cup cakes
They want to know who the coach is going to be :bawling
They want to play finals footy :bawling
I'd love to bump into woods in the street …I'd tell him to get a haircut and get a REAL job !!

If you're 2 metres tall and over 100kg go for it, and tell him from us too! Haha

Don't worry Hobbo, I'm 195cm and 102 kg. I've got your back and If your too scared to tell him I'm certainly not

Is this Tinder or a footy forum

Hobbo is a Taurus and likes long drives in his GoGo mobile

He is also a Pom and whinges all the time

What are you trying to tell us….. that he is your type, cause he's definitely not mine

On a serious note, I have full confidence in what Cleary decides to do with Mitchell Moses. It's not an ideal situation but do you cut Moses from the Tigers before he becomes even more cancerous (remember he is related to Isaac). I for one want to see anything or anyone connected to Benny Elias and his blood line be removed from this club of ours so it can become great again.

Do you all honestly think that Woods and Tedesco are contacting the media to discuss their contract negotiations?
The reason it is being played out in the media is because the club has openly built their future around these players and they are all up for contract at the same time. One is already gone and the other two are eagerly being pursued by other clubs. Oh and the club just recently sacked a coach and hired a new coach right inthe middle of it all who came with the job to rebuild the club.First task to retain Woods and Teddy.
Of course it is going to played out in the media.

This is correct. Very badly handled by our club.

Is Moses influential enough to take players with him?

If your talking about Kev,Edwards,Lawrence and Lovett

Let's hope so

No can't let this comment go. This thread is about wanting respect from players and many have used it to bag Woods, some of which is fair comment. However to include Chris Lawrence is out of order. The guy is the consummate professional and does nothing but support the club and the brand, you never hear him bag players or officials. He has been through hell and to even be running again is a miracle. He has earned the respect of anyone who follows the Tigers

Look at other players from other clubs like Widdop, Bird, Foran, McQueen, they all are/were off contract, but none played it out in the media like our players. They're still giving it their all for their current clubs. Because we invest in our juniors, our guys have been given everything from an early age. In Moses case, we punted 2 other players to keep him, he had a rails run. Now it's gone to his head and he believes he's more important than he really is. I will exclude Brooks, but the others have shown a real lack of maturity during negotiations. I'd have thought Tedesco would have learned after last time but I guess not. I think solely investing in juniors can breed contempt and arrogance among the players, because they know they are the chosen ones. After this the club needs to scrap this juniors mantra crap and start entering the player market more often. Then maybe we'll have players in the side who are somewhat professional and may even bring us a little success.

Couldn't agree more with these two posts! Hobbo, that reminds me of a song from the 90s by George Thorogood?

This is exactly what Woodsy would whack you with!

A few of us on here have been saying for years to ditch the notion that juniors alone can make success.
It's romantic, but unrealistic.
Keep a few obvious youngens but the risky ones should be shed for experienced players. Sure some losses will be mistakes, but at least we won't be the same juvenile mistake over and over.

Cronulla have been trying to secure Bird since last year and unless you havntt been reading in the media he wouldn't sign with them because he wasn't playing in the position he wanted! Didnt stop them from offering him the biggest retention contract that they have ever offered.
There is a reason Kieren Foran is in New Zealand - to escape the media .Players dont choose who the media pursue - the media does. And the club which our players play for has been a media circus for years. That is not the fault of Teddy and Woods.
Widdop is on the medias radar now because there is a level of interest in him with now reportedly three clubs chasing him and dont kid yourself that is troubling the StGeorge fans too.
Woods position at Fox has exposed him more than others and that seems to be where most of the venting is coming from. If any of those same players were on that program the discussion would also be about their contracts. Has he handled it well not particularly- as a yoing captain he has a lot to learn

But keeping digging the boot in as no doubt you will and it seems like you got a possy joining in so good on you.

This is a similar attitude to what the players have. There is this assumption that the players won't be happy earning a fortune and playing for their junior club in the big league. They could even win a competition and set themselves up for life.

If they can't be happy in that situation they will never be happy. To make out that leaving the club is somehow for the best for both of them is to me childish, spoilt, immature and completely delusional.

I'd suggest that this decision is basically immaterial to their long term happiness and what will be much more important will have nothing at all to do with footy.

So Woods has a contract offer from the dogs for more that what we are offering. I'm pretty confident that hasn't and won't happen. I think the same thing is true with Tedesco.

Even if they get offered more money are they really worth it ? I'm happy for them to leave for more money than we are prepared to offer. It shows these guys character and I don't want people like that at our club.

Offer them a fair wage. Most people would stay for that considering we have bought them through and paid them well for a while. If they choose to go it's a good lesson to the club in relation to retaining juniors.

I like the way we retained Suli in that we paid him overs but we are making him earn his money in the top grade.

At the end of the day though I think they will both stay and hopefully on long term contracts. Then I hope the club learns from these situations and locks guys up or passes on them if they are difficult as early as possible.

Not sure how we are digging in the boot here (I've dug it in elsewhere!). This part of the conversation is about retention of juniors rather than buying proven talent. Ultimately over-investing in unrealised potential and not knowing when to move on and realise sunk costs. It is precisely this losing gamble (our ever reliance on u20's stars) which has seen us be so unsuccessful.

I agree with most of your post but don't see how it follows this conversation.

My comment was in relation to the original part of this conversatiion .
The whole thread has been an attack on Woods mainly, and Teddy and their actions in regard to contract talks - part being how they have played it out in the media while other players havnt..
Equating to it coming through as juniors or not, is an after thought to what has been an attack on their motives and chatacter during the contract negotiations.

Ditch the notion of juniors …Woods is a Test player ...Tedesco an Origin rep and rated one of the best young players in the game...my head hurts...

I'm still not happy about letting Moses play for parra, I'm assuming it will happen. I don't understand from a competitive team how we can let one of our best players go there and make them more of a chance of making the 8, and our chances will diminish. It blows my mind, and makes me question ever paying up front for my membership tickets.

On woods and Tedesco, sign or leave, I'm in my 50s and I've seen it all, I prefer to have a team of guys who love the club then a team of individuals.

If releasing moses means we can upgrade tedescos contract this year and it helps re sign then im all for it. Cleary might also have seen what we all think that is a spoilt little brat who will only do harm if he sticks around.

Think Siro put it best. You're just cherry picking the best as opposed to aiming to field a side that's 1-17 full of juniors as has been this clubs goal for the last 5 or so years because its all they could afford to do. Its a loser mentality.
