well my estimation i don't think is that far of i think, as the minimum nrl contract per year is $80,000

Yep and Iosefa and Groat would both be on it. Utai and tuqiri would be on less and Matt Bell well maybe

No way is Groat on a minimum contract. We had to beat some offers to retain him when we signed him to a 3 year deal at the end of 2011.

I think Groat will be with us as a lot of work has gone into him, Reddy if he has a good year willbe with us also, dont think Reddy is on as much as you think.

Dont see the need to keep reddy. He is underrated but we have a lot of junior/lower grade talent on the wings. That sort of money should be going on the forwards.

Love it when people know what players are on what coin.

Id persist with Groat for depth

Was just making a guestimation based on the league minimum Ink ,was just stating if we are paying some of these blokes the money that FT suggested we are paying them overs imo

Ink i wasn't saying i know ! they are estimations of there about's , that's why i asked for thoughts ?
I don't claim to know anything just general talk ,
those players would need to be replaced true , so don't know how much of a gain there is …. especially with Farrah being resigned on a good contract now , i'm assuming....

**Farah** is on 3m for 4 years

Definitely not Groat, he's a good kid and destined for higher honours.

Agree really looked like he put the work in over the offseason.

He had a point with what he was saying, but like Wayne Bennet says, no forward is worth more than 300K..So i don't think overspending on a couple of players, should come at the expense of seasoned, NRL players who add some depth to the squad.

Bennetts $300k comments came years ago when the cap was lower, you also need to remember that Bennett has never needed to spend big coin for anyone, his views on recruitment will be different to Potter and other coaches.

Ask Steve Price if he could recruit like Bennett for example.

Just on some freed up dollars, if media reports over the last few years are to be believed we were still playing a decent part of Gibbs' contract and maybe Fifitas too and this was supposed to end after 2 years.

So we might finally get to spend our cap on our players as opposed to topping up someone else.

wait on,let me get this straight.
we tried to move on gibbs, but were told we had to give them fifita as well, and then we had to pay part of their contracts as well.
good lord :brick:

Good to see everyones roughly in the same ballpark figure…LOL

Waste of time these guesstimates...throwin darts in the dark

If the media reports are true, yes.

I guess all players who's contract is up will be on notice as they are all sheens signings or youngsters so he may like some but not others.
I'd hang onto groat out of that lot BTW

Wierdly I think we will be much better off for props next year then this even without any signings. I mean Woods will be a year older and probably have played origin. Galloway will be back on board. Buchannan will have a full season of FG, Groat will have more FG, AVA will have his first season behind him and Gavet will be back and prob have played mlore FG - So all of a sudden we have 2 experienced props, prob Bell still as well and 4 young blokes who are rookies this year but will have a decent amount of FG next year.

I would keep Bell and Groat, and if we have funds available, I would go for Greg Eastwood or Nigel Plum.

Okay

You have got to be kidding…..are you that stupid?

Keep Bell and Reddy , groat would be looked at on performance and injuries , chase 1 prop , i think Gavet when recovered will be a real good player , hard hitting ball runner

Some of those dollar figures are highly inflated FT

You reckon ? Reddy must of been on at least $200,000 at Parra and was chased by 2 NRL clubs at the time aswell as Parra battling to resign him , that's why those figures were estimations …. maybe $150,000 Tuquiri , what players you think should be retained out of that lot ? for me none of them , would give Groat the second half of the year to prove that he's worthy of being resigned , the advantage for Groat is he still is young ....

Parra didn't want Reddy, never even offered a contract, him and his father were both sent packing,we got him cheap like we did Anasta.

Ditto. The rest can look for alternative employment.

My brother in law was the Physio at Parra 2 years ago at the time he said Parra wanted him but didn't want to pay what Tigers were offering cause that year he was out for the year with a Pectoral tear . Anyway not really bothered either way.

Their are probably one or two upgrades and resignings to make before we start thinking to much about what outside talent we need and who we need to flick to get the cap space.
Outside the spine and front row all other positions can be replaced through our own systems and really our spine is good we have two no1s,two no6s,two no7s and probably two no9s. I see maybe beefing up the front row,but when they are all fit we probably have enough.

I would make a priority locking away Brooks and Koro for at least five years
