@Balmain Boy said:I'm not overly convinced on Marsters yet. He does have an excellent try scoring record thus far, especially as a forward. He has scored more tries than addo carr did in the nyc, and as a backrower compared to winger that's very good. He certainly has a bit of footwork close to the line, can run a decent angle, and seems to be developing a bit of an offload/short passing game.
However i think he's also been carried in what's been a very strong pack for most of his career. The likes of Felise, Tatola, Paseka, McCormack, Sirro, Stone have repeatedly carried the team forwards. For me, Marsters very rarely does the hard yards working out from our line, or even makes that many hit ups in general. He's fairly anonymous on the field until we get down the other end of the field when suddenly comes alive.
His work rate isn't there but his end product is. If he can improve his work rate and get involved more when we're on the back foot it would show a lot more about him, his determination and character.
There's a lot of exaggeration in that snippet too. I'm sure he's hardly the most sought after player in the country yet to play NRL. There are lots of good young players that will have 5-6 clubs chasing them, if not more. He's also not that big and the Tigers have previously worried about his lack of size hurting his long term potential.
Still as an attacking back rower he's worth keeping at a reasonable cost. Certainly wouldn't be paying overs for him yet though.
