OFFICIAL Esan Marsters [Discussion]

After the brooks and Moses story, there is a story suggesting that Cronulla are favourites to sign Esan Marstars. That would be crap if we were to lose a talent like him. Typical Tigers.

It's hard to hear, but I suppose that's what happens when you have good players.

I would prefer to have good players, rather than blokes who no body is chasing

It would be a shame to lose him. I like him a lot. Not sure his dominance at NYC level, where his size is an advantage, will translate to NRL, but I sure would rather we sign him up. Wont despair until this is announced and we have been pretty good at locking up the young players we want over the past 12 months.

I hope we can retain him. The fact he is playing regular State Cup now as opposed to NYC suggests the club rates him and has plans for him in the future by playing him up against older, more physical players now. I think given Marsters current development, FG is a very good possibility within the next 12-18 months.

Cronulla are becoming g as bad as the Bulldogs and Roosters. Just buy a team.
I'm fairly sure the only local junior in their side is Chad Townsend.

Edit: Just did a quick check and that's correct.

Just another reason to hate the Shire grubs. You can never have enough reasons.

How many juniors do they have in their regular first 17?

I know you can't just win premierships based on juniors (unless you're Brisbane,) but you should be forced to contribute to the supply if you're going to poach others.

They've blossomed in to a real grubby team, with Flanagan at the helm, haven't they… Cant stand them.

I'm not overly convinced on Marsters yet. He does have an excellent try scoring record thus far, especially as a forward. He has scored more tries than addo carr did in the nyc, and as a backrower compared to winger that's very good. He certainly has a bit of footwork close to the line, can run a decent angle, and seems to be developing a bit of an offload/short passing game.

However i think he's also been carried in what's been a very strong pack for most of his career. The likes of Felise, Tatola, Paseka, McCormack, Sirro, Stone have repeatedly carried the team forwards. For me, Marsters very rarely does the hard yards working out from our line, or even makes that many hit ups in general. He's fairly anonymous on the field until we get down the other end of the field when suddenly comes alive.

His work rate isn't there but his end product is. If he can improve his work rate and get involved more when we're on the back foot it would show a lot more about him, his determination and character.

There's a lot of exaggeration in that snippet too. I'm sure he's hardly the most sought after player in the country yet to play NRL. There are lots of good young players that will have 5-6 clubs chasing them, if not more. He's also not that big and the Tigers have previously worried about his lack of size hurting his long term potential.

Still as an attacking back rower he's worth keeping at a reasonable cost. Certainly wouldn't be paying overs for him yet though.

What do you think the order of priority should be with Marsters, Giles, Cassell and Stone? Any other 2nd rowers you think we should be looking at locking in?

this kid is the real deal have watched him all season and he is a big lad what we dont have, we need to keep this one.

1 Falise
2 Tatola
3 Paseka
4 Stone
5 Marsters
6 Giles
7 Cassell
