Esan Marsters wants out of Wests Tigers,

He needs to learn to run hard and tackle hard and stop the pussy footing but I don't think he has it in him. How did he make the Nz team ?

Some people are over-reacting. Marsters had a bad year but that's compared to his break-out 2018. The talent is there, so I wouldn't be in a hurry to shove him out the door.

For a Wests roster that fundamentally lacks strike power, I think you want to try and get Marsters back to his best, find his best role, rather than just show him the door. That's not going to get us anywhere with our salary cap.

Obviously we don't want to be held to ransom either, but I don't have any fear that Madge would fall for that nonsense. Definitely not a coach to get panicked about retention.

It seems we are shopping around for a new centre - Lomax possibly (Staggs is a gun, but we'd never get him). If Marsters wants to STAY he needs to pick up his effort level - maybe a bit more competition for a spot each week might encourage him, or perhaps a stint in reggies. If he wants to GO then I'm not sure what money he'd be on, but as long as we are not spending much more to replace him from our limited budget - then I wouldn't be too upset.
As for him evolving into a back rower, my view has always been that he does not have the necessary qualities, attitude or character - hit and stick defence, strong motor, ability to run the hard lines, a bit of size and mongrel etc - all lacking from Esan.

I reckon someone will take a chance on him and we won't have to pay a cent. Thats an extra 400k that can be spent elsewhere

His form has dropped off a cliff this season. A lazy piece of crap. I used to rate him but he just doesn't try hard enough. A long way from the player who stayed back after training to learn how to kicks goals to add an extra string to his bow and cement his place in the team.

Did I read he has been playing injured? It would explain his drop off in form. He is a match winner on his day.

If he was playing injured then why was he selected to play yesterday. Better the young centre having a run in the last match of the season than either Marsters or Farah having leisurely jogs.
