ET seeking release *Rumour

ET has mostly been used as a tackling machine this year. He's been very good at it, however other players at our club could play this role (Edwards, Lawrence ect). If he does go.

Lawrence nor Edwards are replacements for Taylor. Their combined workload would barely add up to Taylor's.

Why can't we just rent out an apartment for 2 years for ET's parents?

Trigubuffs would have a few vacant ones he can write of on tax.

ET's parents could just take a 2 year sabbatical…

Massive loss for sure. The bloke is Captain material and a true Professional pity Woods didn't learn a thing or 2 from him.
On the grounds of his daughters health would grant him an immediate release if that's what is important to him and his family we shouldn't play hard ball and demand a player swap in this instance.

Family comes first.

Hope the lurker is wrong. Will be missed but with the changes taking place better now then later in the year.

Let him go.

This is a valid request and should be adhered to. If he ever wants to come back we would consider it.

It would be a shame but he is definitely replaceable.

He's daughter is very ill, so if he wanted to return home to NZ it wouldn't surpirse me and there'll be no grudges held against him.

Wish him the best regardless of where he goes.

Oh well, at least we've got a handy replacement in Eastwood lol

Can't see Eastwood making 62 tackles in a game though! Lol.

IMO one player making 62 tackles anf having no effect offensively is detriment to the team. I dont look at stats, but do the Storm or Roosters have a player that makes 50+ tackles every week? Dragons and Sharks dont. Point im making is you dont need one player to do the defense, its much more effective when the pack works together sharing the load, and thats what we need to do next year.

On ET possibly leaving, it would be a shame to lose someone of his character to the club.

Yeah I feel for ET, he is shouldering an unsustainable workload in Defence, and his attack is suffering as a result.. the rest of the forwards need to aim up.!…I hope he is not leaving just to get outta here.

Deserves nothing but praise that guy.

Again, the Lurker is one of the least reliable sources out there.

However, I had previously asked why ET hadn't yet taken his option or signed a new contract with the club. People talk of his strong relationship with Pascoe and Cleary.

Maybe his wife is finding it difficult to manage his daughter's illness while he has training and travelling for matches. If his parents are still in NZ (which is likely) i don't think the club would stand in his way whatsoever for next season. This season would be far more doubtful, he would be a massive loss and we would need a player in return, even though it's compassionate grounds. Would be a hard one.

Still it is just the lurker though who has a strike rate of 1%

My impression was that ET had a closer relationship with our previous coach than Cleary or Pascoe.

Can't see Eastwood lasting 62 seconds :roll

If his daughters health is the reason, leaving Sydney isn't a good reason to leave.
The best specialists and health facilities are in Sydney. My friends in Auckland even flew to Sydney for her cancer treatment.
All the good NZ doctors come here for the money.

I wouldn't swap 1 Elijah Taylor for 700 Lolohea's..

I believe this story is a beat up from when his daughter was ill… When everyone would reassess their situation..I do not believe Elijah has asked for a release....

Agreed, we would lose out on the deal badly, but it suits Elijah and he would be helping his mate Cleary get rid of the dead wood at the same time.
