I think Andrew's ego is outstripping his ability at this stage of his career. I hope he turns it around as I believe he could be a very good player in years to come.

Look some players adjust well during contract negotiations and some don't.

I don't think it reflects on ego but more a sign of lack of maturity (not to be taken in a codescending way) in that this is his first real contract negotiation of any note. He came out of NYC a young guy with potential and this time he entered with somewhat of a cult following and dealing with the change up, money on offer and in a way rejection from a coach and club.

It is not an easy situation. it would be good if he finished the season out with BRET and he has more impact and fitness than BMM as far as NRL useage goes.

Have to wait and see but to slate the guy completely isn't really prudent but I am sure we have all done it with some player at one stage

Yeah fair comment Smeg - maybe maturity was a better way of putting it. I certainly wasn't having a go at the kid as I really have enjoyed watching him grow as a player from playing NYC - I used to enjoy going to the games early and watching him run straight over guys - unstoppable.
I still hope he does turn it around and has a good next season and kicks on.

I had the same reaction to his form dissapearing but I think because he was in such a visible league (NYC) and the size of him and the hype it is easy to forget he is a young kid from a somewhat disadvantaged background etc.

We all make the mistake mate. No big deal

That's true Smeg. As I said in another thread, his move to the Sharks is probably the best thing that could have happened. Even before he signed with the Sharks he was looking far too comfortable and didn't seem willing to do the hard stuff. Hopefully for him it will give him the motivation to prove everyone wrong. This kind of move certainly didn't hurt Ben Te'o or Luke O'Donnell.

End of the day, it's up to Andrew how he reacts. He either puts his head down, listens to the coaching staff at Cronulla, and develops to his potential or he pockets the big money and moves on someone else after another 3 years.

Guys it really depends on your definition of cut. He certainly not persona non grata but the reports suggest he has been stood down/relieved of his playing/training obligations for the season. We'll see if he's named for BRET this week.
