Fafita

I still find it hard to believe how we let this guy go ? When he clearly wanted to stay at the time , I know there were rumours that he had a poor attitude and the rest , but who does the blame fall on Sheens , Management , Boardroom , Humphries ,1 month before we released him we activated another year in his contract that we had in our favour then the following month his gone .
This guy is going places at the Sharks and question why we couldn't get this out of him at the Tigers , I feel very frustrated players that wanted to stay and have been shown the door , there is a lot more going on behind the scenes that we are lead to believe in my opinion.
I feel most of the blame falls on Sheens and Humphries cause this is there squad that they kept and released ,
this is not Potter's side and can't be blamed for what is going on , I don't agree with a few of his coaching decisions but then again who am I ? I have faith in him and is only 9 rounds into his coaching Career (people should give him a break)
Fafita should of still been here and Gibbs

I believe our choice was to keep Woods or keep Fifita….in my opinion we made exactly the correct decision. Woods is as good/arguably better than Fifita, and doesn't come with the possible crap as well.

U cant name a coach or sporting team that has let go a player that has kicked on at another club . There would of been a number of factors to fifita getting let go ,.
Hmm young rookie not yet matured, tight salary cap other players wanting money and buying a Melbourne storm international player on top money [ But at the time he was ARGUABLY worth it ] .
we can all sit back and say gee they stuffed up here but u get a better picture when u r dealing with players as a coach then what we see . Im guessing but what if Fifita had a crap attitude didnt train hard and was a growing problem and seen that we had Woods coming on i would sack fifita , maybe sharks were his second chance and he SWITCHED ON like hundreds of other players .

I recall the reason why we got rid of Fifita and Gibbs was to free up money to buy Blair… that's the only reason

It's pretty hard to take at the moment when there's a stack of ex Tigers playing in winning teams, but why do we have to kick our current roster while they're a little down on their luck.
I always feel disappointed with the management when they choose to allow a favourite son to leave but generally they have proved correct in their judgement, only time will tell if Humpty and his cohorts were right or wrong.

This is not a blair v fifita topic . The ORIGINAL Adam blair that kicked arse in the storm premiership sides and played front row was launching into teams and was the leader of the kiwis pack We must of got his twin brother not sure .

Im trying to remember how many 200mtr games fifita did in tigers jersey ill do some research ?? i do remember all the negative talk about him and not putting in though poor lazy defence [ gee sounds like BLAIR now] . I know fifita did run 200mtrs in 10 games he was at least that good for the tiges

lets get over it cos there will be another stack of players that we will get rid of and they will kick on thats wat happens

Yeah but keeping Woods and Fafita would not have been a problem at the time to keep them both (I reckon) as they would of not been commanding huge money , but what was frustrated I recall reading an article of a Fafita interview that he was excited that Tigers activated his 1 year extension at the time and that he said he wanted to be a Tiger for life and yet a player that was supposed to be here was released for a player by the name of Blair .
Humphries needs to release a tell all autobiography would love some questions answered , get the feeling that will never happen.

Fifita went to Cronulla and ran sidewards , had a bit of a poor attitude…FOR TWO WEEKS.

Flanagan sorted him out. Ummm, like a coach is 'supposed' to do.

Sheens had years and failed to even get him to run straight. Sheens then decided he had a bad attitude and let him go. Nothing to do with the salary cap. Facts are, Fifita is on 330 at Cronulla and we pay Bodene Thompson and Pettyrbourne combined more than that. Not to mention Blair's millions. Not to mention Sheens went in hard for Brent Kite with an offer. Money was there.

Basically, as Ink says, we screwed up. Massively. Sheens is solely responsible for it.

Could have had one of the great front trow pairings for a decade...Woods and Fifiita.

And those two are mates who wanted to stay together.

There were reasons he wasnt firing here and now is somewhere else…. Its safe to assume that the change in paint wasnt all he needed. Good luck to him honestly. Says alot about our club culture at the time, and how poorly we were able to convert potential into performance.

Didn't Fafita go because the sharks wouldn't accept Gibbs without a sweetener that being Fafita as someone said earlier huge screw up that whole situation

He wasn't part of the boys club that Shenious let breed.

Yep beau Ryan let him have it on the footy show.. Wond if Ryan and fifta share the same dressing room ?

You're forgetting about Groat. The club could only afford to keep 2 out of the 3, so Fifita was chosen over Groat. Sheenius.

Blair was average when we bought him. The 2008-2010 Blair was incredible. The 2011 version didn't have Bellamy jumping to cheque books to keep him.

The club could only base its decision on what it saw

Fifita had potential ,but was having issues with his reliance on going sideways and relying on his fend

Whether this was Sheens fault for not teaching him to straighten up we will never know

Unfortunately hindsights not 20/20 We should of offerred Bryce and BMM it would appear

But then again who knows ,maybe BMM would be a superstar at the Sharks now
