Farah and Potter in Pressers

I don't get it.

The team has had a good win against a premiership favourite and there is still doubts over the coaches future.

I thought a win against the dogs would be a good tonic for the side. And for supporters,it was.

We are a good chance of consecutive wins against saints. So what will the henchmen say if we win again?

Prior to the last month,we were out of the media spotlight apart from the Tedesco thing.

That was great for the club.all of a sudden, with some ordinary performances ,
the coaches future is questioned.
The media spin is the wonderful talent the tigers have at their disposal but potter is a deadman walking.
Whoever is running the club needs to lead. That is the chief executive officer's role.
that is why he is chief.
That is all wests tigers supporters want from the management of the club

Yeah and thats fine. Get on with business and getting results. Certainly don't have to be best mates. Agree with all that.

You just dont see them like Bellamy/Cam Smith, Toovey/Lyon sort of sharing jokes or lavishing praise on one another.

Got to admit though it is nothing on the Stuart/Campese press conferences. Most of those you could cut the tension with a knife.

c'mon man, your're using guys that have had a relationship for around a decade ffs.

as for potter,he has made a positive contribution at all the clubs he has coached with.
his last season in england he would have taken a squad to the playoffs if his club didn't go bust.

all he has done is be under pressure and gone about his work.
there is enough pressure as a coach never mind the bs he has to contend with.
but under that pressure we find ourselves in the positive for win/loss this year.
he doesn't get the comfort of 1 home base,a spending account to actually buy established players.

as for farah wanting him in earlier,if the reports were true, moses would have made his debut months ago if he didn't get suspended.
not always easy getting right when you have to blood teenagers, especially ones with injury problems during their junior days.
totally fed up with the leaks every time we have back to back losses.
when the hell will we have a fricking board ffs.

been an interesting month with 2 top 4 teams giving us a towel up and then yesterdays thumping and the gutsy gutsy win against the raiders.

if i'm newcastle i would already be telling his manager we need to talk.

Potters team selection all year has been ordinary, players should have been dropped and they kept their spot making the same mistakes week after week.
Yesterday was great, but team selection was near on forced yesterday, but credit where it's due, they played well.

I don't know if Moses should have been in earlier, but a few more performances like that from him and Austin, and people will start complaining about re-signing Teddy.

dont think teddy's signed yet. i have a feeling there will be another debate about this towards the end.

My view is that we have the best young batch of youngsters the NRL has seen in a generation and they deserve the best coach going. Potter has to go a long way to make that obvious.

So who should be our coach then?

That's a stupid question, because I didn't say that he should be replaced. I just said he has to go a long way before he's made himself the most obvious man for the job… (by making the top 8 and having a decent tilt come finals time for example)...

wow there are some wild imaginations in this thread…

Pretty simple really losing creates pressure and tension...win and it all fades away at least for another week...

The team keeps going missing and we've already dropped too many points against soft teams. We should be sitting pretty within the 8 by now but it looks like yet another fingers crossed run into the finals is needed. (Back to the bad old days of 2006-2009)

With 7 games are remaining, we HAVE to pick up at least 8 points because of our negative for and against.

Dragons, Storm, Cowboys, Roosters, Bulldogs, Raiders, Sharks.
I don't see 8 points for us in there give our current consistency problems.

Unless the coach can… ya know...do some of that 'coaching' stuff, sort it out, and get us over the line.

I've noticed similar things, and it seems as though potter's job is in far more jeopardy than last year.

my (crazy) theory is that we are after wayne bennett.

Broncos want to move on without him, start a new era.

The dragons are doing well with Mary and there'd be a lot of expectation/pressure if bennett went there.

wayne wants another premiership and a club like the tigers is probably his best bet since most other strong teams already have very good coaches/staff.

Wow!! You got that right.

I can see wins over the Dragons, Cowboys, Raiders and Sharks. I think we play the Storm at home and we have always gone good against them. We just thrashed the Dogs and the Roosters have been far from consistent this year. Have a little faith.

Every team in the comp struggle to put more than two wins on a trot. On paper and the good form we showed last week you would think we are a big chance in all of the games with maybe the exception of the Chooks, but we all know every week is a new ball game and their are so many variables such as injuries and getting the run of the green with the refs.

Last week I said we had a max of two wins left in us, this week I see a real chance of five

**Last week I said we had a max of two wins left in us, this week I see a real chance of five**

…and from there comes the old saying:
"Youre only as good as your last outing"
Its amazing how the last view changes our perceptions of the future

I remember a couple of weeks back someone was giving it to Keith for saying we were desperate to win against the sharks. We're absolutely desperate to win a few more yet. But things are looking very difficult indeed. When did we last win up in Townsville? Even that isn't an expected win.Hopefully we can scrape together enough. Will be interesting to see us go up against the dogs again. Des will be out for revenge there.

Ive heard Tunksy say this quote on 2SM a few times, and he mentioned it again today

IF we can maintain the consistency and that was always going to be the issue in 2014

That's the scary thing , I actually give us half a chance to get to the 2nd or 3rd week of the semis if we actually make the semis

Relationships between coaches and players at senior level can be tricky. At junior level everyone loves the coach.
Hopefully we have a big win over St George and all this is put to bed. Potter has got the Tigers playing well, in a club that has limited resources, but he's no politician. He needs more people in his corner.

Was watching nrl360 and paul kent made a comment about 1 player not wanting potter. Obviously it's Robbie. He can obviously see that potter is not the man for the job. I think potter lacks any vision especially with our attack and he doesn't have the balls to make the tough calls to drop players ie. Lawrence and Anasta.
It's his job to get the best out of players and he's not doing that consistently

It's up to Robbie to get over himself. I love him and he's our best player. But he's a player and he's job is to listen and follow the coach and it's even moreso his job as captain.

we an even run with injuries and disruptions (suspensions etc.) and if we play to our 'potential' we can string 5-6 together and go into the semi's with momentum….does it remind anyone of anything? very similiar feeling for mine.

its a whole new ball game once you get to the semi's, tracks are hard and fast and with all our injuries we should be one of the freshest teams. I reckon this team is every bit as good as 2005 (the pack is much stronger) and it is a very open comp.
