Farah feels Blues hooking role decided

Wests Tigers skipper Robbie Farah believes NSW selectors have already made up their minds on who has won the hooking role for the opening State of Origin rugby league clash. Farah is in a fierce battle with Bulldogs rake Michael Ennis and St George Illawarra utility Dean Young for the crucial role, but he doesn't feel that a big game against South Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night will do much to help his cause. The clash between two injury-depleted teams looms as the final chance for Farah, and teammate Keith Galloway, to convince NSW coach Ricky Stuart they deserve a call-up on Sunday night when the squad is announced. But the 27-year-old said selectors would choose between him, Ennis and Young on the style of football they would bring to the Origin arena - and that wasn't likely to change after this weekend. "(It's) not really (an opportunity to have a big game). I've been playing footy for a long time. I think the coach and the selectors know what I'm about, and I don't think one game is going to change their opinion of me," Farah said on Friday. "It depends on the style of player that they want and, if I'm that style of player, I'd be thrilled to hear my name read out on Sunday night. "But there's nothing I can do to change that. I've just got to go about my business and hopefully get a win up on Saturday versus the Rabbitohs." Farah also felt that on recent form, Galloway deserved to be starting in the front row for NSW. "I've been really impressed with Keith this year, and I've made no secret that I think he should be one of the first front rowers picked for NSW," Farah added. "I thought he should have been playing (for Australia) up in the Test match last week on the Gold Coast. He showed in City-Country last week that he's ready. "I thought his opening spell was the best out of the front rowers there and, if they don't pick him, I'm not too sure what's going on." Robbie is right. The hooking job was decided well before now… two years ago, actually. They will go with a boofhead who is "built for Origin", NSW will get spanked again and the selectors will fail to learn from their mistakes.

robbie's right - he wont be picked for all the reasons that he mentioned. not in the first game anyway. at least he's mature enough to realize this. but it baffles me how the best hooker in the world doesnt get picked. i hope queensland belt them especially if there are no wests tigers in the team.

Sorry as much as I love watching Robbie play Cameron Smith is the best hooker in the world and by a far bit

I had to read this several times and still am unsure if farah is in fact saying 'he's no chance'
Though that was my first impression.
Im hoping this isnt what he's saying otherwise its a very defeatist and negative attitude….doesnt sound like him which is why its hard to get the gist of the article.

Stuart admitted on his tv show last week that he had a team in mind before round one and might slot a few players in depending on form etc.

It will all come down to whether NSW want to go with someone who will niggle the opposition and then run away and hide when the big bad Qlders don't back down, or if they want to inject a strong creative attacking player into the mix.

at the end of the day NSW loss is The Wests Tigers gain.

Maybe he is after some reassurance from selectors (not thet he will get it ) or article maybe skewing Robbie's words . I don't see Robbie as a bloke who will throw in the towel . Sometimes he can give off some bad signals but he never gives up

Yeh thats my point….maybe its the overwhelming verdict here thats leading me to think that way.
That said, he should know that one good game can bring you right into calculations as it supposedly did for Hinchcliffe

I think he is also probably sick of Journos in post match interviews asking him about origin also Ink . But he is right Even if he gets a ten from ten in RLW makes 50 tackles like Nigel Plum , 7 try assists and scores 3 himself the selectors have decided what style of player they want for Origin Whether they want Farah with Young on bench or Ennis with Young on the bench . Or even Young with Farah on the bench . I personally think the first and last options are the most likely . Young and Farah or Farah and Young

Do you blame him? I have a feeling that Robbie will never be picked to play SOO again and I think he knows it. Something must've have happened in the camp when he played those 2 games a couple of years ago because the selectors and some of the players from that time (ie Hindmarsh) don't seem to want a bar of him. They talk up Ennis as the incumbent, but they, also, always appear to be on the lookout for other hooking options to bring in (ie Gidley, Young, now Hinchliffe) whilst virtually ignoring the claims of Robbie. Let's face it, if they were serious about choosing the best available hooker they would not be looking any further than either Farah or Ennis. Robbie has obviously ticked someone off and now has a black mark over his name, I''ll guarantee it.

Of course, I'm gonna look really stupid if he does get picked, but it just seems, to me, that there is more to the non-selection of Farah in SOO than the reasons they are putting forward. I 'll be happy if I'm wrong. The selectors often bang on about choosing players that compliment each other and have good combinations. Well, with this in mind, if Pearce is selected at halfback, then Farah would be the ideal hooking option - it will be interesting to see if this is the case.

This will be the first full year (started game 3 2010) of my anti-origin mindset unless the 2nd best hooker in the world is selected over the 20th best hooker and the 10th best hooker.

I agree with some of you guys it's frustrating not having him in the blues 9 but if your nsw how can you not go for then? Because one of your players ain't there and its all corrupt? Yeah it's good to have a winge n all but did you all stop supporting the tigers when
Molten was at fb or fitzy on the bench? I wonder why qld smash us every year we have such a dodgy mentally sometimes

Lucky he thinks last night doesnt matter, he played like last night didnt matter.

Highly reminiscent of his Origin sook related slump last season

As a tigers fan I love that robbie won't get picked as it's more important for my club to win than my state to me, but as a robbie farah fan, I'm gutted as he was never given the chance, and has been one of the most consistent players in the nrl over the past 7 years…. I hope the blues get spanked

**So Pearce is there, but no Farah - go figure :unamused:**
