Farah injured, in doubt for round one

Just what we need a spine injury and a spine suspension for round one. Like others Iam not rapped with the idea of playing two light weights against the monsters from across the Tasman. So I think the idea of getting Rankin or Hunt,or even Drinkwater into the hooking role when Cherrington needs a breather has plenty of merit

Damn. We need a solid defensive hooker v Warriors big men.
With Rob, Ballin and Halatau out, Manaia will have a rough day at the office.

Littlejohn at 9 I reckon , Manaia bench , Rankin @ 7

If we are really desperate you could throw Sironen at 7 I guess but it would be a last resort

gotta throw it out there … who would wanna be a coach.

What were the chances of Brooks, Robbie, Ballin and Halatau all being out for round 1?

I'd probably see Hunt starting on the wing now and Ranking starting at 9, if Robbie is out. Cherrington to come on after about 20 though (depending on how things are going) and to maybe play 40-50 mins in the middle of the game, more than he would have if Robbie were fit.

Rankin's that little bit bigger which might get him the nod. No way we'll play Cherry and Liddle in the same game, especially against the massive Warriors!

Might be worth rolling the dice and starting Rankin at 9 and Addo-Carr on the wing. Cherrington to come off the bench…My other left field choice would be to start Tyler Cassel at 9 as his defence is excellent and he's fairly fit and mobile. Not sure on his passing game but surely a couple of weeks training at 9 and passing off the deck would be enough to get him through 50 minutes with Cherrington to play 30.

People were saying we had more hookers than a brothel a month or so ago, now we're light all of a sudden

Not all that bad. At least we now have some handy inside backs in Rankin, Littlejohn and maybe Hunt.

So it begins (injuries) :unamused: . This is where our issue will be , we just haven't got the back up and experience that is required when injuries occur.

WOW !! someone took offence to my general observation that we are a bit thin for experience if we get injuries throughout the year .

strrretch have a lay down , you have gone on a Neg Rep mission

4-6 weeks for Farah…looks like we'll be seeing the future at the present...

I would go with Cherrington and Liddle...both genuine Hookers in a crucial position...like for like...none of this manufacturing players...

Here's one for you strrretch, if you want to abuse the rep system, find another forum to post on. Cut it out and use it for its intended purpose.

For those who were inappropriately neg-repped, the problem has now been corrected.

Cherrington gets his chance early. Great. I don't see a problem.

Cherrington might be a great prospect, but there is no way in the world he has the motor to go 80minutes in a round one clash against any team especially a team that is physically demanding like the Warriors.

I am not really into bagging fellow posters because everyone is entitled to a view, but this Strretch character is starting to bug me with his continue negative ratings, especially as I doubt he really has much idea

Hahaha,

When i saw him negging everyone i thought he must be Liddle, then he posts that he wants Cherrington there lol….i think he lacks comprehension because most if not all of us want Cherrington there too. He didnt comprehend that the discussion is about who will be the 2nd hooker along with Manaia

heres another take, JT tell everyone robbies injured and wont play for the rest of the season, thus getting his way, the blokes a genius. just thought i would though that in for the people who want some spice in the thread.
lets wait and see how long robbie is out for we still got 2 weeks, if not cherrington will do a great job, liddle is not ready for nrl so it will be interresting to see who gives cherrington a break.

Liddle has the advantage of being quite fast for a hooker. However we need the rest of our forwards to step up with their tackling. It can be done as they showed last Saturday after opening up big gaps early in the match.

Brooks, Ballin and Dene were always going to be missing round 1 though BB and there was always a strong possibility that Robbie wasn't going to be at our club in 2016 at all.

Time for Cherrington to stand up and be counted now,the hooking spot is gonna be his to handle in 2017 anyway so throw him in there and see how he goes. Just on the often-named 'Warriors monster pack'…. would they really be that much bigger than any other forward pack in the comp? I don't think they would be.
I think people such as the Johns brothers, Fittler etc get a bit carried away when they bung on about really knowing you've been in a battle after playing the Warriors more so than any other club, maybe when they had Wiki, Joe Vagana etc playing for them moons ago that would if held more truth. On their day the Warriors pack has long been renowned as one of the laziest forward packs going around also.

Or how's this for a blast from the past …

Lawrence to 5/8 , Moses to hooker .

Sorry , keep having flashbacks

I watched Liddle the other night against a very big Newtown pack he well and truly held his own ..I would not write him out of the equation just yet but Taylor probable would not go this way .

Lillyman, Mannering and Hoffman are really not big forwards in today's game forwards are getting smaller and more mobile anyway

Bring back Johnny Cronk. All that Dank special Gatorade him and his mates were woofing down he would be able to manhandle the Warriors pack on his own.
