Farah injured, in doubt for round one

tigermac,I haven't seen Liddle either, but gee I reckon Cherry will put on a great display, but I don't believe he will go the eighty minutes,I will let Liddle show us what he can do in limited time if he gets a start….

Liddle played the end of the sharks trial, so you could see his most recent effort on YouTube via the link in match thread. He is young and not really ready, but has ability and would give it a decent shake, leaving nothing on the field. I like him.

I just read something from someone who claimed that the injury could be as long as 6 months depending on how he wants to treat it

The source - Farah himself

I watched Liddle the other night against a very big Newtown pack he well and truly held his own ..I would not write him out of the equation just yet but Taylor probable would not go this way .

I agree Snake…If teams are continually isolating the hooker in defence then we are doing it wrong...Liddle puts his body on the line and does not shirk defence...

Can't really see Jt debuting Liddle as it will only be for 1 week, when Halatua,Farah or even Ballin will be available for Rd 2.
I've gone for:
5 Rankin
6 Moses
7 Littlejohn
9 Cherrington
17 Chee Kam
18 Hunt

Rankin/Littlejohn to Hooker Chee Kam to centre Naiquima to wing whilst Cherrington is off.

A lot of shuffling for an interchange. Fair enough if an injury caused such a response, but not reasonable planning for mine.

Ballin Round 8-9 more likely.

Willow mentioned Cassell which isnt too bad an idea?

Great opportunity for Cherrington while everyone else is out. Hope he kills it.

With Farah and Ballin at the club he probably thought his chance of starting a first grade game this year would be slim. Huge opportunity for him.

True. It would be ironic if Cherrington / Halatua combo kicks ass while the other two are out.
I got a feeling it will aswell.

I love Cherrington's passing game, just not sure how he's going to go in defence. All the other forwards will have to set up and help him out. I was one of those joking about how much depth we had at Hooker this year. A lot of people wanted Robbie gone. Now's their chance to see what the WTs are like without RF in the 9 jersey. Not an ideal situation at all with Halatau out as well

I think we will see Cherrington play most of the match against the Warriors but will see a backrower start the match at hooker for the first 20 minutes to take on some defensive workload. That will prob be Halatau from Round 2 but in round 1 could be Sironen who has the ball skills and experience in the halves plus the size. The other option is Drinkwater or Rankin playing half and Little john sharing the duties with Cherrington

Thing is though it isn't the same as Robbie being gone because if he was gone we would have another 900k to spend. Given he will miss another 4 or 5 games due to Origin looks like we will be paying him about $1000 a minute on the field and he isn't worth that

Disagree with the 'another $900k to spend'.

If Robbie secured a release, he was never going to go to another club for anything over $300k. Once you factor in any backloading/moneys owed to him, he would more than likely be in our cap still for $700k.

If he retired from RL we may have had the $900k, but not moved to another club.

Just that if he takes the 6 weeks he'll playing through pain

Channel 9 news (for what it is worth) says 6 weeks for Robbie.

Love Cherrington but his defense is the problem until he gets better at that. I think Littlejohn could be the way to go with Cherrington on the bench - see who gets the most game time as the game unfolds. Moses to Half, Rankin 5/8 and Hunt on the wing. Willow suggested Cassel to hooker when it is rough - that could be a good move.

With Halatau back for round 2 solving the immediate problem unless there are more injuries (hope not).

Never a dull moment at the Tigers ….

Cassel would be interesting. Think Taylor should have a look at that at training. A hooker that hit like him suits me.

IMO

I like the idea of this in that I think Littlejohn is probably a better defensive player than Rankin, but I worry that it involves shifting two players out of position given they've had Rankin training in the outside backs and Littlejohn in the halves. I also think we might up with too much reliance on the kicking game of Moses with this formation.

It might be getting a little elaborate but we could for example have Rankin at hooker in attack and defending on the wing, and Chee Kam attacking on the wing and defending in the middle. Or I may have just turned into Tim Sheens…
