Farah made dis-tasteful tweet about gillard

I'd class it as in very poor taste, even unacceptable but violent to me is an exageration. Farah was right to delete it and should have apologised but having seen this and the original post to Farah, they're not in the same ball park. **One was an ill-advised, unthinking, potentially upsetting attempt at a joke.
The other was a deliberately offensive tweet designed to cause offense.**

Bad timing all this, given the fact that Julia Gillard's father died recently......

Julia Gillard and Robbie Farah, both leaders in their own right. One is a leader with guts, determination, working hard to overcome personal treatment that is unfair and unjust but, nevertheless, gets on with life in a dignifed and gracious manner. The other is Robbie Farah. As a WT member and fan, I am disgusted in Robbie at the moment, albeit that he has published an apology.

Regardless of what you think of Gillard and her government's policies, LCA's statement is correct. She does have a lot of guts and determination and cops more unfair personal abuse than anyone I have ever seen in Australian history, yet she goes about her business without crumbling or retaliating in a like manner. It's one thing to criticise govt policies or the way a PM runs the country, but quite another to attack a person to the point of vile degradation because of their looks, gender or the bloody colour of their hair, for God's sake! If most of us had to endure some of the disgusting stuff I've seen written and heard spoken about her on an hourly basis, we probably would've sat in a corner and crawled into the fetal position by now. She is one tough cookie.

I expected this from the media. They've always got to turn things into a scandal. To compare the two comments is crazy. Robbie's comments in the context they were meant were never an issue, but i agree that since light has been made of it, an apology is a show of class. The comments directed at Robbie were far, far more personal and the context in which they were written, and the series of tweets around them were nothing short of immature and inhumane.

Like i said though, i expected this reaction from the media.

I can see why the players have such a poor attitude when they are lead by Sheens and Farah. Great player but not a captain's ring hole. I couldnt imagine Wayne Pearce acting like this.

Trying to compare these tweets is like comparing chalk and cheese. Farah's tweet was not directed to Gillard and was clearly meant as a joke. It was just a throwaway line, having a crack at a politician like so many people have done through Australia's history. There was no malice in it. The other tweet was directed to Farah personally, using language which was designed to get the maximum impact. If it was meant as a joke, I am glad I don't share his sense of humour!

I don't understand this whole uproar.

Trolls on the internet are always going to be around, simply due to the nature of the internet. Farah has over 30,000 followers, and countless more who know who he is on Twitter. The sheer number of averages dictate that he'll get alot of hate mail, along with alot of praise.

WHY celebrities take note of any of it is beyond me. Charlotte Dawson was a prominent member of the fashion community, her career is built on the back of incredibly bitchy and harsh criticism, and yet a faceless person the internet pushes her to the edge?

If you start "banning trolls" or trying to come up with a censoring mechanism to limit this kind of behaviour, you're going down a dark road in my opinion. Leave the internet be, if you can't the abuse you take, don't read it. No1 is yelling it in your face.

Please please don't defend farahs comment. However you coat it it told the pm to hang herself. Throw away or not this is what he said. It's not for you to judge what people find offensive.

But like I said earlier, he should of ignored the original tweet and this would have never had shown up again.
