Farah, the forwards and our attack around the ruck.

tonight we went back to old ways. forwards were running lines straight back into the marker area and being dropped off inside. the opportunity to make forward metres was cut early in the game when brisbane identified this as our game plan.

when it was obvious that this was not working, i am of the belief farah (being the experienced hooker that he is) should have spoken to the forwards and redirected the forwards to be running wide - one or two off the ruck. don't misinterpret this as farah bashing, it's not. but it's a flaw in his game. he doesn't know how to adapt and change a game plan (where as someone like smith can). i was also quite disappointed with his lack of attack (running from dummy half). its non existent. when its non existent it means theres and issue with the forwards - hence why it is up to him to change the direction and plan. he should notice these things. he had a great game defensively (as always). his kicking options again weren't overly impressive (even though they led to tries). there was no trust in the halves and he continued to run things alot himself.

if the plan isnt working, our guys need to adapt. i didnt see any signs of that tonight.

yeah there were injuries etc and we really should never have been in a place to win that game… but with a bit of leadership and direction we could have walked away with the 2 points... like the good teams do.

I tend to agree about redirecting the attack out wide, however completely disagree about running things a lot himself. He had two halves tonight who couldn't kick their dog, so what do you expect him to do? He was always going to do all the kicking as there was nobody else capable. This was a mistake from the beginning as we should have picked a halfback to play 7 with a kicking game.

I tend to agree about redirecting the attack out wide, however completely disagree about running things a lot himself. He had two halves tonight who couldn't kick their dog, so what do you expect him to do? He was always going to do all the kicking as there was nobody else capable. This was a mistake from the beginning as we should have picked a halfback to play 7 with a kicking game.

moltz was crap as far as a #7 was concerned (much to my disappointment) but can hardly be critical of his kicking game. he did a 30-10 in the first half (didnt find the sideline) and didnt really get much of a chance after that.

anyway next weeks going to be interesting.

Its clear to me we lack the passion, passion to win. Handful of guys play their hearts out (woods, Farah, Fulton) whilst others rather take the back seat.
I remember the days when Gibbsy ran all night like a dog despite the fatigue, Skando and Payten were the same. I watch Eddy on the field and he is lazy as.

I'm just sick of the fact the whole team doesnt put in the effort when its a team sport.

i dont disagree with what your saying. but my point is someone of robbies calibre should be able to adapt to game plan..

100% agree to that, i read an article from Darren Lockyer where he says Farah will always be No2 behind Cam Smith and for the exact same reason.

My gripe is Robbie needs help and atm he's not getting much.

Robbie needs support and like minded players around him. Our forwards need to know what lines to run before the game. I would only agree that Robbie is the No2 hooker if he had the equivalent of Cronk and co around him week in week out and didn't have better statistics than Smith. Robbie is the best hooker in the business in my eyes (tiger eyes)

It helps to have someone like Benji in the team at those times because it takes the focus off Farah.
We no Benji all opposition have to do is clamp Farah down and thats the end of any game plan WT have.
Unless another player plays out of his skin there is no chance for us to trouble the other team.

So true, we only have 1 key playmaker left in farrah, you smother him and its game over. Same with all teams, take out Soward, Maloney, Johnson, Cronk, DCE and Carney. WIth benji ther it does make the defence think twice.

And most teams you just listed are not very strong teams. The dragons are alright because you also have to smother their forward pack which is extremely difficult. And I think you're wrong with manly since they have the stweart brothers and foran.

I only saw the game on TV but even without a wide angle on the ruck it was obvious that we are not asking many questions of the defence when hitting up. Almost our entire team was bunched behind the play the ball area, so all the Broncs had to do was stack the numbers of their defensive line around the ruck. It was just too easy to contain us.

Then when we tried that little inside outside ruck play they just choked us.

Also in this situation when trying to clear it from our red zone we were not only bunched, it also seemed like half the players didn't really know what they should be doing. Have a look, apart from a couple they all have really blank expressions and no self direction.

Thing is with Koro back it probably won't change, they'll al just stand back and let Koro and Utai do the hard work while they bludge for a few.

Come on boys you are all adults and this is NRL - at least try to play to standard!

It worked because those two are what he have in attack and our left edge is an easy path to score
