Farah's Groin Super Thread

Willow, what do u expect him to say?

'yeah my groins shot and I need surgery but I'm trying to wait until after origin'

Did you believe Darren Lockyer when he said he supported ivan henjak and had nothing to do with his sacking?

Maybe they where trying to get him through and things changed?

He might as well have the surgery now. This season is a write off imo. Teams will now have Marshall heavy marked without Farah and Lui and we just dont have the strike power. We will struggle and might be able to jag one win in next 2 months. God help us if Marshall gets found guilty in his court case because the NRL will then ban him for at least 4 weeks. Never seen injury crisis like this and this season had so much hope.

Yeah Jas I was thinking same thing about Marshall and his court case things may get far worse Tigers fans

Known this for a couple of weeks, and it's been obvious the way he has played.

He should go and get it done immediately. We are already at the stage where it will be very hard to win. Get it done now and be back in 6-8 weeks. We might not win another game between now and then, but what can you do. It's tragic for our season, but look on the bright side. Gives us a chance to look at future players. 2011 might become a write off, but you can hardly blame the players or the coach.

We would of talked the Top 4 this season. Unfortunetly now that is virtually impossible. Thats the reality of Rugby League though. We can still scrape 7th or 8th and then it's a 4 week comp. That is probably the new reality for us, at best.

Agree 100% Eddie - i also believe if we can jag a top8 spot and have virtually our full squad back there wouldn't be a team in the 8 who would want to face including the pretenders, sorry premiers.

They gambled, they lost

Was a stupid gamble really. Easy to say in hindsight, but seriously, the logical choice would be to nip these things in the bud early in the season.

What options is there?

Thre…imo

1\. Take Farahs word at face value.

2\. Take the medias word? (Never wrong)

3\. Take the word of anonymous online posters?

People give their opinion based on what they read, hear or think...most adults with life experience know that all is not always as it seems, politicians, bosses, friends, partners, spouses....all stretch the truth.

Players are schooled to talk, think act positively 24/7 ....no point being a pro athlete if you think negatively.

There are a lot of very young members on this board who may be that naive, though Im sure most here realise even when talking to players at functions pressos etc, just how often they actually tell you what you wanna hear. Surprising that.

Unless somethings announced officially, whatever it is, I usually try to keep an open mind

Mate Farah's broken groin, the surgery thing and the six to eight weeks on the side line are real, its not a smoke screen. I wish it was, but its going to happen and probably early next week. I give the bloke a big rap for getting to round 4 with the discomfort he is in a few other players would have put the white flag up weeks ago

its 06 again we are gonna end up finishing 10 to 12, but its injuries to blame not performance

In 06 we lost Benji for the season - and Hodgo & Whatuira for a vast portion of the season - along with losing Buckets & Patty to ESL!!

In hindsight that may have well been the better option - at least he'd be halfway through his recovery period right now. Anyway I digress, just hope he gets through tomorrow's match without any dramas and gets the surgery done ASAP. The Tigers can ill afford to lose any senior players.

Geez there is some pessimism here.

The good clubs (Broncs, Melbourne, St George last year) have shown you can win games when you lose key players at state of origin time. The situation is different from previous years- we have proven backup players for most positions. If we can win 2-3 games over the next six weeks we will be mid table.

Our forwards have been going good and apparently it is the forwards that win you games. This theory might be tested over the next few weeks.

Our kicking game needs to be spot on. Hopefully the new guys can lift and play out if their skin for the next few weeks - it is their chance to make a name for themselves, just like Woods is doing.

2 groin injuries. Coincidence? Apparently you get these by doing too much running. Is tendonitis the same as that ostietus pubis?

Another question. Why would you be telling everyone around town that you had a groin tendonitis if you were considering playing on with it? Can't see the point really unless Sheens is playing games.

Ostietus Pubis is a widening in the pubic area around centre of groin It is usually caused by Major increase in exercise ,ill fitting shoes , Possibly hip buttocks and back injuries ,unusual running styles or running on hard or uneven surfaces . I would doubt that the two would be classed as the same . But the symptoms may be similar .

Seems youve missed my point, now weve seen actual quotes from Sheens commenting on it, yes I agree it seems it is real

But anyone believeing everything the media says, or everything posted on forums….is a fool

Farah plays down groin issue

Wests Tigers skipper Robbie Farah has played down the severity of his groin problem and insists it will not keep him out of action, despite his inability to train.

Farah has been nursing the injury all season but said he felt no discomfort during the game and refused to use it as an excuse for his side's under-par display in their 24-6 defeat to Sydney Roosters on Sunday.

"I got through the game fine, I didn't train a lot through the week, but I was fine out there," Farah said.

"We will see how I pull up, everybody went a bit overboard with what was said in the papers before the game, but it doesn't bother me during the games, but it is a case of will it become an issue not training for a few weeks.

"I'll speak to Tim and see what happens, but it is not affecting me.

"I don't think we could have played any worse than we did in the first half, we got ourselves in game but poor options at the back of the sets let us down."

Sheens said he'd been using back-up hooker George Ndaira during training to give Farah time to recover and said he had full confidence in allowing his skipper to play the full 80 minutes.

"He is watching what is going on in training and we run a replacement which is a bonus, we knew what we were doing when we went out, we were confident … but you have to be tough enough to defend and we weren't today," Sheens said.

"Some of our options at the back end of our sets were good, we lacked a bit of direction but I am not going to offer up any excuses, at 12-6 we had enough ball to win the game, but we missed a simple tackle midfield and gave up a try to put the 12 points between us again."

Sheens defended his decision to play with Tim Moltzen at halfback after originally naming rookie playmaker Jacob Miller in the starting line-up.

The 18-year-old dropped to the bench but Sheens said he was pleased with the contribution he made when he came on late in the game.

"Timmy has got the experience and is a very quick halfback, I suppose he needed the run, today he got 80 minutes under his belt for the first time in 12 months, we'll see next week whether he will stay or give Jacob a run," Sheens said.

"I spoke to Jacob before the game and told him he may not get a game ... but I rate the kid and at some stage he will play more, but we needed experience on the field."

Bryce Gibbs returned for the Tigers for the first time since round 23 last year, but Sheens played down reports England international Gareth Ellis would be back from an ankle injury for next week's clash with South Sydney.

"There is no-one who I have been told will be back, Gareth won't be ready next week, no chance," he said.

Farah was woeful today. If he's injured-get rid of him and get a fit player in there. If he isnt fit-then he needs a kick in the backside because he has been woeful all season, but today took the cake…..his worst game for the Tiges EVER....disgraceful.

He was bad wasn't he.

For a couple of seasons though I have thought he really needs to step up. I think it was 2007 and he was a gun but since then he seems to have lost that ability.

I don't know what is wrong with him but he comes up with real bad plays and doesn't bust open games at the same time. Recently (this season) the dud plays have disappeared however the ability to bust a game open has also gone.

You look at Orford - he was a gun. He is now terrible. I hope Robbie gets it back together and he hasn't lost it.

I remember Benji being inconsistent but he would win us games. Robbie doesn't do that. He just seems like an average first grader that you keep waiting for to step up a level but he doesn't do it.
