Farah's return timely for Tigers

The only thing that concerns me is the low act opposing players perform, when they know a guy is coming back from injury they deliberately focus on trying to re-ignite that injury to get him out. A low act on a fellow player, breadwinner and worker. We can't expect him to perform miracles in first few matches but can hope.

In the first 3 rounds this year, I have noticed a very distinct pattern during the games. We get off to a thundering start and then Cherrington comes on and not only does our attack and direction fail but we start leaking points. I am not trying to solely blame the young man, but there is an undeniable trend there. Both His and Halatau's service from dummy half has been pretty average in my opinion. Alot of the passes to the big men are going behind them, High, low, etc. This affects momentum.
I still think that Cherrington is a player of the future but when Robbie returns, I cannot see a place for him in the 17\. Halatau would be a much better option on the bench as he can also play in the back row as well as any of our current back rowers.

In the trial v cronulla his service was slow people were saying…. When cherry came on we sparked right up across the park... Everything went up a gear
His experience will be handy but his best is behind him

That is true, from that game. But on the flipside, Cherry is an ordinary defender ATM and I worry about teams isolating him or pushing through the ruck week in and out.

Halatau's service has been very poor - lots of slow, high and wide passes behind players, but his defence has been decent. Cherry's delivery has been quite good but his defence isn't that great yet. While it's obviously not solely his fault we've conceded 90% of our points while he's been on the field.

Robbie playing 50-60 mins will be of great help to us as his service is better than Halatau's and his defence is better than Cherry's.

It doesn't help that he has often been without two of our starting middle players for most of his stints, as there is a big disparity of strength in the guts during that period of the game.

Spot on BB. I like to see Cherry back in SC for a while, so he can work on his defence and other aspects of his game.
He's just managing to keep his head above water defensively, in first grade. I know he's still very young and will improve defensively in time, but we simply can't have a hooker that can't defend for long minutes.

As the thread tittle implies RFs return is to be greatly welcomed IMO.

It has been no coincidence that the spell in and around half time when the first crop of interchanges happens is almost exactly when we have been leaking points.

RF is still an Origin grade player where Dene and Mania are not.

Woods whilst a firecracker on the ground struggled to stabilize the team after the Titans started to put on back to back points.

We need the composure on the ground.

I'm hoping the RF is at his cranky best this week. we need to going into the Sharks game of the back of a Win and not staring down the barrel of 3 losses.

Like many of the guys that are coming through, Cherrington will develop over the next year or two. There's a lot to work with there.

Farah coming back this week is good. This is a big game for the Tigers. Not necessarily the result, but certainly the response to Saturday night's performance. Add in a few injuries coming in, so we start to see the strength of the depth this year soon.

What Saturday proved is that giving Moses & Brooks 'free reign' won't always work. Not yet. Hopefully Farah can help guide them as opposed to stifling them.

As good as the attack has been, this game will be about the Tigers forwards & Eels forwards, and who can dominate that area.

Not just the forwards Parra dosnt have any weaknesses this year as far as I can see - arguably the best halves combo going around, great centre pairing, and the most dynamic winger in the game. Backed up by Gordon at the back who knows how to boot a goal. Cant afford the errors this week or it could get ugly.

No doubt they are a good team. But it'll come down to momentum & dominance around the ruck. Who is faster in the play of the ball? Tigers seem to be right on that with Woods, Grant & Sue, and to a lesser degree Lawrence. If they can keep eating up metres through hard running & fast play of the ball, Parra will be on the back foot, and no matter how good their backline, they'll not have the platform to work on.

C'mon let's take a breath here?

Parra are surely on their way to building a good side, but they have been fairly horrible for many years and that isn't totally ironed out of them yet. The only club they have a winning record against since 2009 is (surprisingly) Cowboys and they are 2/3, same as we are.

They performed alright Rd 1 but were well handled by Brisbane (though of course Kelly in for Foran is a big deal). Rd 2 was a good finish and Rd 3 I think the score flattered them - had Kasiano's pass been ruled ok it might have been a different result. I also think Dogs are struggling in the last two games.

Parra are going alright, I don't think yet we could claim them as competition heavyweights?

Yes Jennings and Radradra is a great left edge, but I honestly think Takairangi and Gutherson are not so great.

The forwards - Paulo, Mannah, Edwards, Scott, Moeroa - certainly tough and workman-like without being particularly dynamic. I would say Moeroa is an exception to that and Edwards is coming along.

Bench of Pritchard, Terepo, Wicks, Gower is ok. Pritchard seems to be reserved unti late in games, Terepo is ok. Wicks has discovered some go-forward but I don't think he's any better than, say, Seumanufagai. David Gower is what he is.

Definitely beatable, so long as we play more of the good minutes and less of the bad ones.

Cherrington hasn't set the world on fire but I think it's also because he enters the game when Woods and Sue exit after about 25mins. I think the whole team suffers when they go off, 3 weeks in a row teams have pulled us back at this stage of the game.

Ha no one said they are unbeatable or even heavyweights - but I maintain across the park their current team has few weaknesses. Dosnt mean man for man they have better players, but as a unit their forwards are going well making good metres and defending strong, and being well led by Norman, and now Foran. Apart from that their attitude, energy, and enthusiasm in each game has been great. They have had three strong performances against three good sides, we will have to work extremely hard to beat them.

That is a bit over the top!

Ill give you one weakness, the middle forwards struggle in defence and are only average in attack, and their right edge is average at best.

Halves are very good, everyone has a good fullback and they are no different.

The left edge is outstanding probably the best in the comp.

Farah confident for Easter Monday return

Mon 21st March, 04:59PM

Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah says he's confident he'll be right to play in the Club's Round 4 clash against the Parramatta Eels on Easter Monday.

Having missed the opening three games of the year to a knee injury, Farah told the media on Monday he was confident of being right for the match on Monday, March 28, and that he was looking forward to being out with the team again after a strong start to the year.

"I'm pretty confident I'll be there [this week]," Farah said.

"I've been running now for over a week and there hasn't been any dramas with the increased work load. I've been picking it up day-by-day with the training and it's been fine so I'll be out there training with the boys tomorrow and as long as there's no setbacks, I'll be playing.

"It's always easier watching the boys on the sideline when they're winning; it's difficult when they're not going so well, but the first two weeks have been outstanding for us."

Having played in last year's thrilling Easter Monday blockbuster against the Eels, Farah said he was thrilled to be making his return from injury in such a big game, and urged all Wests Tigers fans and Members to come to the game to support the boys on Easter Monday.

"It's a massive game on Monday," Farah enthused.

"It's always a huge crowd out there at ANZ Stadium for the Easter Monday game. The last two years we've played them have been epic encounters so we're hoping for another one!"

I have no insight about the inner machinations of the club, but Farah has been noticeably more relaxed from what I've seen this season.
