Farewell and thank you Corey

Came here with no promises, but really grabbed his opportunity. There's no denying he's not the most naturally gifted bloke, but he rarely disappointed and had some great games in our colours.

Seems to be a genuinely loved guy amongst the playing group too.

Wish you the best Corey, hope you kill it at the Titans!

This clubs a friggin joke letting go of our most consistent player ..

All the best Corey ☝️

He was probably the Cleary signing that had the least expectation but ended up being the best. If he was over 6ft he would have been a great winger.

A great Club man.

Def a class act.

Lacked the size of a modern winger and too many errors for a FB...but no one can question his heart.

Corey Thompson will depart Wests Tigers effective immediately after agreeing to a long-term deal with another NRL club.

Thompson joined Wests Tigers from Widnes Vikings in Super League ahead of the 2018 season and went on to score nine tries in 20 games for the club that year.

Playing primarily on the wing, the Queensland-born Thompson would go on to play 22 games the following year and featured in the opening two games this season prior to the competition being temporarily suspended in March.

The 30-year-old will depart Wests Tigers having scored 19 tries in 44 games, and paid credit to the club, its staff and fans during his time in Wests Tigers colours.

“I wanted to say thank you to all the Wests Tigers Members and fans for all the support and faith you’ve shown in me,” Thompson said.

“To the club, I wanted to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to come back from England and I’ve loved every second running out there and representing Wests Tigers. I wish the team nothing but success this year and thank you for everything.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe wished Thompson and his family all the best in the future.

“On behalf of all at Wests Tigers, I’d like to thank Corey for his professionalism and commitment to the club over the past two-and-a-half years,” Pascoe said.

“Corey has always carried himself tremendously well on and off the field and has been a great example of the core values that this club is known by.

“The chance for him to head home to Queensland for the first time in his career on a long-term deal is a valuable opportunity for him and his family. I’d like to thank him for his service to Wests Tigers and we wish both he and his partner Sarah all the best in the future.”

You would have though Madge could have said something, even just a one liner... Think he was owed that.

I wish most of the tigers played with his passion , sorry to see him go , but I hope it means we get another young bloke looking for a start .

Thanks for everything Corey, loved everything you brought to the club!!!
You showed nothing but professionalism, passion and dedication during your time with us and you'll always be held in high regard with WT fans. Will miss watching you give your everything for this club and I sincerely wish you all the best.

Great player in that he got all the juice out of the lemon each week.

So, who’s his replacement?

Robert Jennings
