Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I have been vocal about wanting Madden at 7 and AD moved but fully expect the same team to be named.

Benji is as stubborn as they come and his ego won't allow him to change the halves in the short term.

I do think he is trending in the right direction as a coach but he has had more than enough time to sort our best halves pairing and our 20m red zone attack which has been abysmal for years.

If he is the man manger they say he is, he needs to make the change and manage all egos involved. It was stupid to gaurentee AD the half back spot in the off season. All spot should be earnt.
Our u not watching the games AD has been our best player , it’s working with ad at 1/2 and should stay that way untill it doesn’t work

Benji's a smart man, he won't be changing our halves.
I will say though that Jarome played the role of a 7 last night with AD the running 6.
I think having the numbers reversed on their jumpers the way it is takes the pressure off.
It's an interesting style Benji has them playing. Pure hard running in our own half and very much a Walker brothers style of attack inside the 20 with lots of offloads and second phase plays which really makes a defence lose focus.
Terrell's copped a lot of flak from those who just want him to run hard but his and Twal's offloads when the play looks dead and the defence are momentarily relaxed are gold.
When we do then attack with shape it's less predictable.
We look clunky to those with traditional ideas of what attack should be but it really is working.
Well done Benji.

Interesting post.

Reminds me of when Benji played, the jersey number was a hot topic.

It was mentioned he loved the number #6 and would wear it when actually playing the 7... and when he had the 7 he always played like a 6, etc.

Your comment really reminiscent of those days.

I reckon Benji had a few words of wisdom to both Jerome and Jahream at halftime last night as they were both very average in the first half and were both noticeably sharper and much better with ball in hand in the second half.
If they keep producing what they did in the second half last night, no criticism would ever come their way.

We need to lock down our forward pack. Our forwards have been incredible to start the season, particularly defensively. Tackle efficiency isn’t everything but to start the year:

Terrell May - 98%
Api Koroisau - 91%
Fonua Pole - 92%
Samuela Fainu - 94%
KPP - 94%
Twal - 97%

Royce Hunt - 95%
Sione Fainu - 97%
Latu Fainu - 94%
Alex Seyfarth - 89%

Massive effort from everyone, except Seyfarth who really should be higher considering he’s coming on fresh at the end of the game against tired opposition. Will need to step up next week without KPP

Most of these guys were in the mid to high 80s last season so it’s a huge improvement!
