Favourite Indigenous Player

There are three that were top escheleon.
Beetson
Thurston
Lyons

After them, I liked the nippy little blokes who were just raw talent vs brawn.
One I haven’t seen mentioned who was an excellent attacking dynamo is Ewan McGrady.
Ewan McGrady what a player and his famous red ford laser that Canterbury gave to him to get him to training on time because he was always late and he went for a two week drive in it mid season and gave it to the town he grow Up in and hitch hike back to Belmore

If you look at it another way Greg Inglis would’ve been able to move to the forwards and still be the best in his position.
Latrell as witnessed in finals last year is quitened by a all in tackle and goes missing
I’m old but don’t remember seeing half the names mentioned
Laurie Daley was a favourite growing up though

Larry Corowa for me.

An excitement machine that burned ever so brightly for a period, creating a buzz around Leichhardt Oval that I witnessed coming into my teens. An atmosphere unlike anything else that I have ever seen in footy, prior or since.

If not for the devil of alcohol, which sadly grabbed him early on, I have no doubt that he would be remembered up there with the best in the game. Despite his battles with grog, he still put back in to league community back then, as he does to this day.

A few I liked.
Nathan Merritt, He just played well. Likewise Preston Campbell. Nothing flashy just solid.

David Peachey too...

George Rose, he put up some great hits. Likewise Greg Bird...

Obviously Ingles etc were the top tier players, Ingles etc. But I liked the guys that played old rugby league style. I see a lot of this is Naden now.

He has always been this good.
Don’t you remember him ripping us to shreds?
He’s always been very good but his form for the Warriors at the end of last year stagnated.

Looks ready to take it to the next level this year, he’s come out with a bang.

Kevin Longbottom, Fullback/winger for Souths in the 60s maybe into the 70s. Pretty big fella but quick as a whip and used to kick goals 60m out with the old water logged leather balls. Guy had a bigger boot than Patty Richards.

Jeff Hardy was a tuff nut in the 80s with Illawarra and Saints in the 90s.

Always had a soft spot for the poor fellas that played in the Balmain dumpster fire years of the early 90s. Paul Davis, Graham Lyons, Will Robinson.
