Trolling Rothfields forum yesterday a Sharks supporter posted this comment in regard to the possible news that Snowden will return to Newcastle:

Hey Buzz

Long time listener 1st time poster…...
Now can you please hint the names of the news forwards Flanno is gonna ring?!?!?!?
Very excited to get some new blood in the side, we dont want another Ferguson fiasco.
Also shout out to Flanno getting some points out of the sharks, we have a great for and against at the moment only a few rounds in!!! So glad i support the Sharks and not Parra!! WOO!

To which that meathead Rothfield replied:

One hint - they play for the Tigers

The Sharks look to be targeting Fafita, and probably to a lesser extent BMM or Woods. They have somewhere in the realm of $350,000 a year to splurge on him. Thoughts?

Sorry $350000 a year for potential is way overs . Woods would worry me he is worthwhile to keep but Fifita and BMM no one in their right mind would spend $350000 a year on them YET

Should be no surprise now that our players are sought after by many clubs. Whether Fafita or Woods wants to go play for the sharks, or whether we can fit them all under the cap, who knows?

Yeah it was reported in yesterdays telegraph that Shane Flanagan had he phone numbers of a couple of up and coming young front rowers and was going to give them a call to take the place of kane snowden, couldnt see them going there unless they where chasing the money, still think thats way overs for them though.

That pack would be tempting.. If the boys wanna stay I believe we will accomodate them.
Woodsy, I can't see going anywhere!! EVER!! I'd Like to think Fifi is loyal to the Club that took him
out of Group 20\. But I think he will chase the $$$ for sure….

No Suprises here - Im sure the Tigers are already working the numbers.

Be wary of the Dogs, Sharks and Parra…

If they take Fifita, I'm not too fussed tbh. We're bound to lose some young players and imo Fifita hasn't really come on like I expected him to. His penetration is minimal, his only real attribute is his fend and that only worked at first because players were trying to tackle him properly. Now they realise that have to arm grab him, it's show over for Mr Fifita. Other than the one 50 metre try he has done absolutely nothing this year except crab sideways and get arm slung to the ground. Out of Woods/BMM and Fifita… I'd be least upset to lose Fifita.

Were you expecting him to be a SOO quality prop after 10 games? Fifita needs greater penetration no doubt. But he has developed a lot faster than Gibbs ever did. I would keep Fifita, Woods and BMM and let Gibbs go if we were forced.

You can't be serious about Gibbs can you . Gibbs defensively is the best prop in the game and does wonders for our line speed in defense . He rarely gives away penalties in defense anymore and is a wiiling worker and gives our forwards a grit \bite .

Why would Cronulla want another forward? They have Gallen, Douglas, Tupou, and maybe Snowden if he stays put. It's the backline where they'd need to spend some cash. Anyway I'll worry about this when there is something a bit more concrete

Isaw that in the tele & thought of both the fifita brothers & if they want to go & chase the dollars why spend overs to keep them. If they want to go let them go & keep woods & bmm.

Totally agree they need a experienced quality half or five eight to guide the team around

No and I do think Fifita has potential but I see more potential in the others and I don't have unrealistic expectations about keeping them all. It's also not about "letting them go". If the Sharks offer Fifita 200K/year right now on a two/three year deal, I'd be disappointed if the Tigers decided he was worth that and matched it, because he simply is not and I can't see the Sharks offering much less than that either. As for Gibbs, I can't see any clubs offering Gibbs more than the Tigers are already paying him so there is no chance of him leaving until his contract is up, which is quite a while away. If the Sharks have $350,000 though I'm guessing they're gonna take aim at both Fifita and Woods. I would be willing to match an offer on Woods at this stage for a few reasons. Namely, he isn't going to have any absurd deals thrown at him because he doesn't have the same hype/experience that Fifita has. Sharks will probably offer him something like $130,000 for one year with an option. I would happily match that. Fifita at his career development will likely get offered $200,000 over two, which I'd be remiss to part with.

And yes, Moltzen is off contract at the end of this year I believe. I would imagine that the Sharks would have much greater interest in someone like him than Fifita.

I wouldnt blame or begrudge Fifita for going to the Sharks… The guy wants a gig as a starting Prop and wont get that at the Tigers in the next 18 month unless in the case of injury.

While I'd love to see him stay, we cant keep them all!!!

It just worries me that with so many good young players, we won't be able to hold onto all of them.

Yep…that is a fact we cant do a thing about....just like taxes....cant avoid them!

And the reality is, the club has done a remarkable job ensuring the core of this team will be under contract for a very long time.

Having Farah, Marshall, Lawrence, etc (plus the hopeful long term inclusion of Adam Blair, one of the best forwards in the game) in the same squad for the next few seasons means that even if we lose a few players, as all teams inevitably do, the club will remain competitive.

of course they were going to be targets their football manager use to be tigers u 20's football manager and would of seen the potential of the likes of fifita and woods. losing snowden they need someone up front but i wouldnt be paying 350 on 1 maybe get 2 experience and one youth or the other way round

Sharks have openly spoken about bolstering their Halves and backs with the funds they have available. they have one of the stronger Fwd packs on paper at least.

I assuming Tim Smith and Scott Porter will be let go so McD may be onto something here. I have no doubt there would be some serious interest out there for Moltz.
