Final two games

Howdy,

Does anyone know when the schedule for the final two rounds will be announced?

Cheers

I think they were saying on 2GB that Ch9 wanted to wait until much closer to these rounds to select the games that have the most impact on the make up of th top 8\. If that is the case, at this stage it is very difficult to say when the Tigers will be playing in those weeks.

Man, how much power does channel 9 have on this game?

That's ridiculous … announcing it 3 weeks before the game. It's so hard to travel interstate when you only find out at such short notice.
I think we can safely say though that the Gold Coast game wont be a Monday game as we've already had 4 Monday games this year.

I Agree that is a joke. How can supporters arrange flights and accomodation without costing a fortune

The Broadcasters are selfish. The networks get to choose who they want playing on what day - evening or afternoon for ratings. Nothing more, nothing less. The NRL has given the Broadcasters this power and the one's who lose out are the fans. As much as i hate the game of AFL, they have it right with their scheduling, providing the yearly draw for their supporters well in advanced to season kick-off to help organisation which in all, increases attendances. When will the game of Rugby League join the revolution of smart thinking? I'd say 2012 when the next broadcasting deal comes about.

I wish the NRL would just do the same as the AFL and just schedule the matches before the season starts.

I mean ch 9 have more power of the fixtures then what the tv networks have with the AFL despite ch 9 not paying as much for the rights.

I think there's a good chance we'll be on ch 9 or on MNF.

It might be a Friday night because ch 9 will want a qld team, while we could be in finals contention + we normally rate really well too.

But i think ch 9 will want to show the Cowboys vs Brisbane match on a Friday night, (they wouldnt be able to show that on a Sunday because its in Townsville). Which means that could relegate us to a Monday night or a ch 9 Sunday game because I dont think ch 9 will want to show all 3 qld teams on a Friday night.

If the NRL want big crowds and truly want a national game then they need to adopt the AFL's style of arranging the entire schedule pre-season, so if youre a Swans fan, you know in March that when they play in Perth in July for example, it'll be on a Sunday.

So far Jetstar are around $200 return to go up on the Friday, back on the Sunday night.

For Rd 25 I'd be guessing this:

Friday:
Cowboys V Broncos (do the Broncos ever play on any other day of the week?!)
Bulldogs V Warriors

Saturday:
Raiders V Knights (5:30)
Storm V Roosters
Manly V Sharks

Sunday:
Titans V Tigers (2pm)
Parramatta V Penrith (3pm)

Monday:
Souths V Dragons

I'm banking on it being a Saturday 5.30pm or a Ch9 Sunday Arvo fixture like last season. Either way, as long as it ain't a monday. The Cowboys are Saturday night 7.30pm specialists. And if that's the case, the Gold Coast Vs. Wests game very well could be a Friday nighter at Skilled Park.

Yeah , it's a joke alright…..I search everywhere for any info and came up empty.
Thanks Staks for letting us know it will be August 4th.

I think the Tigers and Titans game will be on channel 9\. They were given Sunday arvo slots on both occasions last year and both sides are playing entertaining football at the moment so it would make a good free-to-air match once again.

Last round, Tigers v Dogs will certainly be a ch9 game. It always is when we play those puppies.
Lets hope its a sunday afternoon game.
it will be played at the SFS & if it comes down to us needing to win to make the top 8 n dogs need to win to finish 1st we should get 30,000+.

The last thing they want to happen is have the 2 teams playing on Monday night running 4th or 5th and having to back up on the Friday. I think that's why they like to wait. That said, they don't want it to be 2 teams that are out of contention, or only 5000 people will show up.

I think you will find there is no Monday night game in the last round for the reasons you have stated.

the last game of mon night footy should be played in round 25, and only by the teams who are placed 13th onwards.
that would be common sense.

TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC TBC ….Titansv Wests Tigers

Why do the fans always come last in this game.

Last night that game should have attacted 20,000 fans at least if played on a sunny Sunday afternoon...yet all the fans are made to rush from Monday work into the city, through peak hour, try to get to a parking spot and hopefully make it in time to catch the start of the match.

Now 24 days before the Round 25 and still no indication on when this interstate will be on.....at Least the AFL doesn't treat their fans like crap
