Harsh. I dislike the Dogs as much as anyone, but there is no doubt the guy can coach. They should have won that game yesterday. He has some good players in the side, but he also has players nobody thought were capable of achieving what they have this year. Most were joking about all the utilities they signed and tipping them for the bottom half of the draw.
He has their defence on song and they play tough. If Benji manages to get half of what Ciraldo does out of our team next year we will be nowhere near the spoon.
Funny I don’t dislike the Bulldogs at all, never have. I admired the way they came back this year after 8 years in the wilderness, it gave me some hope that we can do it too. I would’ve liked to see them go on further, it would’ve made the finals more interesting, imo. They played so well yesterday, it’s still hard to believe they lost!
I certainly don’t dislike Manly as much as I used to as a Magpies supporter, but they’re a bit meh for me. As much as I don’t begrudge Brooks winning, his success is only going to mean disparaging comments about us in the media and in rugby league circles yet again, and I’m really over hearing everyone dissing us all the time. Plus Aloiai is also in that team and he is someone I don’t really want to see too successful, though in all honesty he and Brooks have already done way better than they did in their time with us - that’s the sad fact.
Mine too 1969 ! Souths were a dynasty 67 -71 and would have won 5 in a row except the Tigers ruined that .Particularly liked our Pommie halfback David Bolton what a player .
Interesting side bar . The guy who made the line break that led to the Sydney Williams try was Terry Parker who I think became Secretary Manager of Souths after that

they changed the field goals to 1 point in 1970 I believe ? due to Eric Simms for souths kicking so many
Tigers laid down that day, still regarded as the greatest upset in grand final history Souths had 11 Australian representatives in that team

Storm and Penrith looked another level.
Funny we are after Second Rowers yet Blore and Garner were both on our books now plying their trade with Storm and Penrith.

Yeah Manly are tame to what they used to be… DCE twists people the wrong way but he’s a class footballer.
Dogs have quite a few shit personalities in their team toppled with their over the top annoying fan base + Gould

The line speed both Canterbury and Penrith had was insane. Never seen anything like this. Was it blatant offside or they were just fitter than the other teams?
Can't remember many set restarts or penalties across the four games.
Almost 24 hours later, and I still have no idea how Manly won that game. Insane resilience to not give away line breaks.
If Penrith keep getting away with the line speed they had, there is no way anyone else beats them. If I was versing them next, I'd do an early chip kick to keep them on their toes.

Brian Fletcher has said this for the last 2 years about Penrith, constantly saying they’re line speed is so good that it looks like they’re offside.

Cows can make the final 4 but it’s curtains for whoever meets the top 2 in those semis.
All these clown commentators preach getting into the grind with Penrith and Melbourne but that’s exactly what they want you to do because they’re so much better at it than everyone else. The only reason Brisbane threatened them last year is because of all the offloads and willingness to move the ball.
Sharks did well to stay there with Storm for a half but again couldn’t hold on. Roosters, I don’t even know what that first half was honestly. Loser fans and an even bigger loser coach would have you believe they lost the whole game on that forward pass call but Penrith are simply levels above them

He was so fast back then. As soon as the ball came his way you could see them open up and provide a pathway and he was quick enough to exploit it.
Even when he was 28m out, the whole stadium knew he was going to score. The roar was absolutely deafening.
When Barret scored under the posts, it was even louder but the best was when Halatau scored his second try.....that noise has stayed with me ever since.
