He grounded the ball in goal, drop out

Intent to get out of ingoal

Never been ruled that way, he grounded the ball it should be a drop out.

Dunno about that...think you're wrong...well hear more about it if you're correct

There have been heaps of times players have grounded the ball and then attempted to leave the ingoal area and had it ruled as a drop out!.

How do you determine intent?

I'd think.its pretty straight forward

Ok how? I'm not being arrogant, I actually respect your opinion on football!

Well you either attempt to.pick up and get it out of the in goal....or planting a hand.on it on.the ground...if an opposition player is a chance at scoring you're probably gonna go safe and ground it but if there's a chance at retaining possession you want to get it out of the in goal....i think they have to rule intent as I said earlier ***a motionless ball could be deemed grounded the moment a player places a hand on it to pick it up and run it.***..physically he does ground it even though he's trying to get into the field of.play

The word probably is the problem when deciding intent, you can decide what the player probably was trying to do, but that is not definite. There are situations where you can't tell what the player was trying to do. for example **a player slips and panics so grounds the ball in the process of falling,** he then realises he has more time than he thought so decides to get out of the in goal. How by looking at it do you decide intent?

Your first scenario sounds quite definite...sounds.like he grounded it...probably

Tried everything not to give that try. How many times do you have to look at it to see that he kicked it WELL before it hit the ground? Bloody hell!

But what if it didn't look like an intentional grounding even if it was?

Did you watch the front on replay? He's caught him under the chin.

Croker's was worse though.
