Fittler in Tigers' sights as halves coach

Best person would be Andrew Johns, but he's locked up with Manly. When does that expire? We would want someone to start for pre-season. I'd be happy with either Fittler or Kimmorley. As long as they get someone. The halves has always been a problem area for us, and its one of the most impotant positions. Look at the top teams, the 1/2 and 5/8 combo are working really well, hence the teams suceess. The only problem I see is that this is out in the public, someone needs to be signed up first before the other clubs decide its a good idea.

Freddy has been my hero as I was a 10 year old when he debuted and scored those brilliant tries. We need him, he lived the wild side but turned into a brilliant leader and his humour will lighten the mood when necessary. Love the guy yep man crush for sure, might be able to attract some backers/ sponsors also

We already have a very good ex first grade half in the coaching ranks at the Tiges

Todd Payten?

haha, yeah I forgot about Matty Head. Could be a decent option.

Matt head vs brad fittler
Please that is the sort of stuff that will continue to make this club continue to struggle. Matt head was decent but brad fittler was one of the best to play the game

okay, putting this out there, but i think braith anasta could be a good halves coach. okay, rubbish playing this season, but in the past he has done well and i think he is a good communicator. could also be a good way to get him to retire from playing! ; )

I think this is a great idea, anything to get this liability off the paddock…

I dont argue that, but we are talking coaching here

Craig Bellamy was a good enough player to play first grade, Wayne bennett too, average to good players, great coaches
…Tommy Raudonikis , Wayne Pearce, Fittler,...great players, crap coaches.

I'm with you PT18 ….......... after all he is a Westy like most of us so would have no problem fitting in with the culture. As you point out, a little laughter maybe the best medicine.

although I agree with your point being a good player doesn't make you a great coach.
Wayne Bennett did play test footy.

I think that Freddy is a great choice.

Despite his on camera antics on the football field he is all business.

Whoever we pick, it's good that the Tigers are making halves development a priority. I'd rather that than us just grabbing a couple of promising halves out of the 20's, throwing them to the wolves in first grade and hoping for the best.

Can you explain why you think he's a great coach, when it's pretty much a proven fact that playing ability has little correlation with coaching ability.

What you call "on camera antics" i call barely smart enough to form sentences.

Majestic player, but there's nobody home upstairs

I wouldn't mind seeing Fittler involved, wouldn't mind if Matty Johns was also, either would do, is there are halves coach already for the U20's does anyone know, Brooks would be receiving some coaching from someone are they haven't done too bad.

Andrew Johns maybe, not Matty Johns!
