The NSWRL is pleased to announce the following five players have been chosen in an extended squad for the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues for the State of Origin series in November.

Payne Haas (Brisbane Broncos), Tom and Jake Trbojevic (Manly Warringah Sea Eagles), Tyson Frizell and Cameron McInnes (St George Illawarra Dragons) were selected after the NRL regular season finished today and their clubs were eliminated from the finals series.

“This season has been extremely challenging for the game and I’m pleased to name the following players in this extended squad,” said Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler.

“I believe they all will play a role in helping NSW defend the State of Origin Shield and I’m looking forward to working with them when we go into camp on October 19.

“The State of Origin series will be an exciting way to finish the season and I’m confident the players we select will do the sky blue jersey proud.”

The squad will be added to every Sunday as further teams are eliminated from the NRL finals series and all players who are selected will be permitted to temporarily leave the NRL bubble introduced this season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The players will be required to maintain a level of fitness before re-entering the bubble again for the start of the NSW Origin camp on October 19.

The opening game of the State of Origin series will be played at Adelaide Oval on 4 November, Game Two will be at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on 11 November and Game Three will be at Suncorp Stadium on 18 November.

Poor Nifo thought he would have made the training squad at least

Fittler has to keep room open for Ferguson - what a joke. The funny thing is he writes in the paper about Parras rubbish defence on both edges. But he refuses to rule out Fergo who is a total flog in defence.

I don't think Nofo is a defensive star by any means so I don't think having a go at Fergo's defence is the right reasoning.
Nofo's attack has been great this year i guess Fitler looks at the brain snaps Nofo has like the usual play the ball error each game and wants him to work on things like that. In saying that the last 3 games or so he had no unforced errors.
Maybe next year for Nofo

Devastated for Nofoaluma, he absolutely deserved to be in the squad, if not the starting 17. He has every right to feel hard done by.

Ferguson will be picked and he’s been awful this year. He will be dropped after game 1. Honestly I would chose Daniel Tupou over Nofa or Fergo.

Disappointing he couldn't find room for Nofo.

The whole SSO thing is rigged...the selections, the result...all skewed to and influenced by $$$....Gone are the days when the best players were selected and the result of the match was just that.....

When Nofo was raised as a possibility Fittler expressed concerns about his defensive issues. My point is not that Nofos defence is any better than Fergos but why Fittler raises concerns about Nofos and not Fergos.

because at least Fergo is proven at semi final and grand final football and played origin

Whats that got to do with it. His form this year has been atrocious. His defence this year is every bit as bad as Nofos and he has had trouble all year with his hands. If ( and its a pretty big if ) he gets picked it certainly won't be on any form he has shown this year.

thought nofo deserved to be in the training squad.
Even Buzz.. yes Buzz rothfield was getting up Daley about it on BSB.

Daley then went on to list about 10 centers that should be ahead of him, talk about a biased agenda.

In one game where Fittler was commentating Nofo dropped a bomb - possibly the only one this year - and Fittler basically ruled him out of Origin contention because of it. Ferguson has dropped at least two in the past few weeks (including on Saturday), has been missing most of the season yet will likely waltz into a wing spot.

That, along with Tommy T being CONFIRMED whilst being freshly injured just reeks of favouritism and bias.

Realistically I don't believe Nofo should play Origin BUT based on his performances this year he should be chosen ahead of the two previously mentioned. At the very least be part of the train on squad.

Tommy T, as great a player as he is, has played about 30 minutes in the past 4 months and will likely not play again until Origin - frankly that's ridiculous.

Nofo ripped off big time. 100% deserves to be in the squad

Fergo's form has been way down this year the only way he can get accross the line is to have no one in front of him or like Sivo with a small player in front 10 out from the line Fergo's gifted try to AJ the other night is not something you expect from a SOO player
